The whole next 10 days is cold.

I'm planning on working just 2 days....

Hahahahaha , I looked at the forecast. 4 of the next 7 days are more like sweater rather than coat weather there. Here is ours:

Our local public school performance on State grade level assessments, from our official state EED report:

46% Flunked writing.

43% Flunked science.

34% Flunked math.

21% Flunked reading.

With a 7:1 student teacher ratio and average teacher salary over $70K they tied the prison for over-all score. The lock-up for minors. They call it the "youth facility". I had no idea they were this bad.

Taking the Pearson-Longman 6th grade reading test, half a year before kindergarten:

He types his essay answers into the computer just fine, but he needs to catch up with writing skills so we have him take his exams on paper. He needs a full sheet of paper to write answers out because pre-schoolers don't have the fine motor co-ordination to write in small boxes.

lol. Writing in all caps too.

I was going to mention what looks like a condom on the table but decided it must be some saran/plastic wrap.

Anyhow I'm going to go make some halibut for dinner. :D

I'll be honest; I'm super happy my husband was located to Denver rather than in Alaska where the FAA was also hiring at that time. I rather enjoy the milder winters. :) I'll never move back to Alberta.

I've never been to Alberta, but I'm guessing the weather is kind of like ours on the plains here, basically cold?

Denver is just more vibrant in general too. I miss living in Colorado.

Cold and windy. I would lose count of the number of -40 days, and that's before windchill. Winter was from October to almost June. In the summer it would be sunny ALL DAY until about 530pm then a thunderstorm would roll on in for the rest of the evening. >_< But out of all the cities in Alberta, unless you were moving to someplace closer to the Rockies, then Red Deer would be the one to choose. They have a huge park and trail system, so it's common to see deer in the middle of town, and the city was a decent size (medium by Canadian standards.) You're only an hour and a half away from either Edmonton or Calgary, depending on which way you need to go, if you need a large city for something.

At least where I grew up in BC it was milder. There was a lot of snow, but because of the mountains and hills, it would warm up because of the low clouds when it snowed. We had the lakes, mountains, rivers, etc... I'd totally retire in that area. Even hubs is willing.

LOL that kitty's adorable.

He kept going for another few minutes after that too. I've never seen a cat attack their own legs before, just to play.

FYI: Halibut was good. I poached it in a white wine and made baby red potatoes and green beans with a chive butter sauce to go with. NOM! :)http://www.realsimple.com/food-recipes/browse-all-recipes/poached-halibut-green-beans-red-potatoes
