My husband and I have made a joint agreement not to celebrate Valentine's Day. It will be just another day for us because we don't like the idea of being told that we have to get each other a card and/or gift and go out for a rushed, very expensive dinner.

We prefer to do special things for each other "just because" whenever we feel like doing it.

Happy Valentine's to those who do celebrate, though!!!

I'm with you, its 8,000 miles give or take for me. I'm sure FWAGUY can look it up and correct me to the meter.

I guess I'm just not in the V-day mood this year. It's hard to get geared up when your sweetie is half way around the world

I'm so jealous of you! I try to feel this way. You know, force myself to realize that we show each other so much love everyday that we don't need a special day to celebrate it. But then I see the cute pink hearts and fuzzy stuffed animals and I swoon and turn all girly. :P I (L) Valentine's Day! I'm such a sucker for commercialism.

Depends on wether you go east or west... ORD to HK is 8,776 air miles (or 14,124 km) going west or 9,920 air miles (or 15,965 km) going east via London

YMMV

we have an agreement but, its the flip side. I told him " Go with the flow, dont be asking questions". we will have the belated expensive dinner, flowers and the over priced hotel suite.

Dont cry.. how about planning a date online. get creative. I have done things like if your SO has PC at home and you have your PC. why not just turn on the cams. make like away to sleep on the bed or floor. when you wake up..you can still see each other providing. you are creative

and you dont have a crapy connection online.

how about have a valentines party..

you could get a few valentine goodies and share if you wanted. again get creative.

I hope that you make it together very soon! Best of luck to you.
My fiancee's home country is Canada (and we're apart right now), so Valentine's Day is recognized and celebrated. However, she doesn't really care much about getting anything specifically FOR Valentine's Day. She'd like it, of course, but what she prefers is when I get her stuff for no other reason than I want to and that I care, not because some holiday dictates it.

Anyway...what are we doing for Valentine's Day? Well, if we were together, I'd take her out to dinner (someplace romantic) and take her out to a show or something similar. Unfortunately, that's not a possibility yet. So, what am I doing? Well, I don't want to say. Sometimes (on rare occasions) my fiancee reads this board, and I don't want to ruin it. ;)

Thanks! :)

We do movie dates all the time. We'll both order pizza at the same time and rent the same movie and press play at the same time so it's like we are having dinner and a movie 'together' but not.

I have never really been a big fan of V-day. The women at the office get so crazy. Everytime the delivery man shows up with flowers all the women are glued to the window wondering if they are for them. Then when the lucky girl gets call to the front to pick them up, the dissapointment meter in each woman goes up a notch. The worst is when they don't get any, or they come reallllllly late. It's really one of the funniest things though.

Moral of the story...Send flowers and send them early.

Thanks for the ideas, Shon (F) Neither of us has net at home so that's out. We'll just have our regularly scheduled phone call until further notice. I'm just riding the bitter train lately, sorry :(
