sponsoring my adopted children (relative) for green card

Hello everyone,

My US citizen daughter petitioned for me for a green card and now I live in the US with my daughter. Prior to the petition, My husband and I adopted two of my son's daughters when they were 12 and 10 years old in my country. They had been in our legal custody for three years before I came to the US. My son and his wife are alive but are not able to support them due to health and financial reasons. The biological parents have ended their parental rights. Currently, my husband is taking care of them back home.

I would like to know if I can sponsor them for green card. With the financial support of my daughter whom I live with, I am able to raise my adopted children.

I appreciate any thoughts from what you heard or from your own experience with this type of immigration case.

Yes you certainly can. You are going to need proof of legal custody and at least two years of physical custody (court order, custody order, which should say that the children resided with you; if not - some proof that they resided at the same address). Also proof that the biological parents let go of their parental rights (should be in the court order or a separate document).The rest is regular immigration packet for children of a green card holder I-130.

I filed the custody order (which was granted several months prior to the adoption) and the court order. All copies. You'll need the originals for NVC.
