I just sent off my I-129F today and I think I put "U.S. Department for Homeland Security" instead of "U.S. Department of Homeland Security" on my money order and the address. Do you think that they will over look this seeing as it's only minor? I must have been so nervous that I wrote for instead of of.

I've seen tons of people misspell their own names and nothing has happened so, I suspect it should be alright?

I asked my husband about it and he told me that you should be okay. It would be a problem if you sent to a different agency for instance to USCIS.

If you were the recipient of a check which slightly misspelt your name, IIRC, you can still cash it you should just endorse it with both spellings. I think you'll be fine; in any event, you'll find out soon enough and at this point there is nothing you can do about it anyway.

I have seen them cash the funds even when people do not follow the instructions and write the checks/money orders to the wrong agency, such as the USCIS instead. So, it is possible you will be ok with the typo. You just have to wait and see what the person that deals with your petition submission does.
