It is not a requirement however return tickets are often cheaper. The standard VJ line of advice is buy a return and then cancel the second half after you have arrived.

Or I guess book the return portion far enough in the future so it will coincide with a trip home :)

Huh, I never realised a return ticket would be so much cheaper! That's so bizarre. Has anyone ever had problems at their POE because they booked a return?

I've purchased one way tickets to and from Jamaica that were cheaper than round trip. So purchase whatever is cheaper. You do not need to have a return ticket. Please do not purchase anything until you have visa in hand though! Better safe than sorry.

I booked my wife's return for 89 days after her arrival. No problems at the POE. RT was about $1200 cheaper than the one-way. So after we got married I cancelled the return leg.
