DS230 Part II and James' Shortcuts

I'm preparing to submit the DS230 and I want to use the shortcut. I downloaded the Barcode Cover Sheet, and I'm just wondering if you changed the text where it says return with "completed DS-230 Part I" to indicate Part I and Part II.

I know it's a silly little thing, but I'm just trying to decide if I should change it.

Also, I'm attaching: birth cert., marriage cert., police cert., and photcopy of passport bio page. There are no prior marriages, military service etc. so I think that's all I need - if anyone wants to confirm that would be great

I did not change the text..since I'm going throug Mumbai, I only needed to send in Part I. It'll be interesting to read other people's comments on this. If you are uncertain about what to do, you could wait for the orignal but as you know it will delay the process slightly.

Try posting this in the regional country forum.. you may have better luck there perhaps.

Ok, I'm filing from Canada and I submitted the forms WITHOUT adding Part II... I overlooked that part.. ahhhhhhhhhh oh well too late now... Maybe amarceau can answer that question for you since her case is completed. I submitted mine last week.. I"m gonna call them now to see if they have received everything.. (the line is busy! argh)

Will let you know what I find out. Hopefully I won't get a RFE because of that... doubt it! hahaa It's just me being optimistic!

And you are right... I submitted the original birth certificate, police certificate and marriage certificate with a copy of my passport biographic page... the rest of the the material (military, divorce, etc) are not applicable in my case. That's all you need!

Do you guys included DS230 Part II on the packet that you sent to NVC?

Yes, it's my understanding that yo fill out the DS-230 Part 1 and Part II completely. However, you only sign Part 1 form -- Part II form will be signed at the time of the visa interview.

Also, just in case -- in my case -- my husband's birth cert. is in French -- we needed to have it translated by a Certified Translator to English and have that translation notarized by a Notary Public. Also, the police records should be from the RCMP (or must have used a search of the CPIC or national criminal records repository)

Does the photocopy of the bio page of the passport need to be notarized/certified as a true copy?

Of note, I called the NVC a few times and have found them to be very helpful / pleasant . . . which is always nice.

whether or not you submit Part II depends on what country the beneficiary is from.

Cuci - the passport bio page copy does not have to be certified. I would call them, but I'm not so sure they're willing to help me do a shortcut Anyway, I just submitted it, so it's too late now!

As far as I understood from the instructions, the biographic page of the passport DOES NOT NEED to be notarized. The instructions simply asked for a copy of the biographic page of the passport. Nowhere does it say that it needs to be notarized. Save yourself some money!

I submitted the Part I and Part II, but I didn't sign the Part II per the instructions.

And I am completed, but still waiting for that wonderful piece of paper with my interview date ! I'm waiting for either K3 or CR1... whichever comes first... Cmon Montreal !!!
