I interviewed today successfully and thought to share some pointers.

  • Arrive early: I arrived at the embassy at 7 am (doors open at 8 am) and found some people already in-line. Make sure you come early so that the staff are fresh and in a good mood.
  • Have all your documents ready: If planning to interview, you should have ALL your documents ready. If not, be prepared for the risks that situation presents.
    • Note: I qualify through my education AND my work experience. I was asked about both during my interview. If you also fall under this category, then make sure that you bring the documents that matter.
    • Note: If you qualify through work experience, it wouldn't hurt to print out the O-Net job category you fall under and bring it to the interview. My interviewer noticed and complimented me on being prepared, and it never hurts to be prepared.
  • Be organized: Have your documents sorted in a logical order (Abu Dhabi's embassy lists the order in which the documents should be presented, be sure to adhere to their guidelines).
    • Note: There's no harm in bringing extra documents that you believe might be required. However, make sure that you ONLY present the documents they require. So, in that case make sure these documents are filed in the back of your folder/file.
  • Have copies: Have copies on hand for everything (they only asked for original police certificates, in my case). Like another poster said, present those copies without any plastic cover.
  • Be able to communicate and understand what is being said: If not, and you are a family, have your strongest communicator handle the interaction with the embassy staff.
  • Be patient: Your interviewer may be nice or not, either way, be prepared to deal with a possibly stern staff member.
  • Remember your application details: Make sure that you know the details of major events, as you are quizzed.

The whole interview process was quick and efficient and the interview went great. Just remember if you qualify and are prepared, there's nothing to worry about.

Congratulations...

extra documents like what ??

Expect questions about every area of your application. If the evidence you provide may be considered to be inconclusive or too weak, support it where you can.

Basically, make sure that there is no reason to obtain any further documents at a later date. Try to get this stage of the process complete as fast and as successfully as possible.

Hi & congrations on your success. What documents did you actually present for proof of work experience? Am scheduled for interview this month & I also qualified in base of Work Experience ( Network Admin at a Cyber cafe) & College Diploma.

Hi, the document I presented was a letter from my employer regarding that explicitly stated:

  1. The job title (make sure it matches/closely resembles the name of the job family you qualify under)
  2. Date of employment to present/resignation date

My letter was printed on the company's official letterhead with the company logo and address shown. Additionally, the owner signed and noted his name. Try to be as detailed as possible.

Good Luck
