TN Visa - got laid off - what are my marriage options and how fast?

Hello!

I was/am on a TN visa with my boyfriend for the past year and I got laid off very suddenly last Wednesday. We're so confused about what to do now. My employer is willing to extend my TN for a month or so (I'm getting severance so the lawyer said this is legal).

So my head is swimming:

1 - I can get married ASAP and then file for an AOS but that will take, it seems, several months. What happens when my TN expires?

2 - What if I get a K1 or something while I'm here before my TN expires? Is that the same thing basically as item number 1?

For the sake of argument, let's say I can manage to not work for a little bit, although that isn't ideal. Ideal would be that my boyfriend and I don't have to get married suddenly next week! That we could at least have a month or so to plan and get over the sudden lay off. But is that possible?

It seems ridiculous to think I have to move back to Canada after already living here just so I can get married and hang out there for 6-12 months before being able to return back here.

I am not familiar with the TN category, but option two requires you to leave the country and wait out the process in Canada. It is not an option for alien residents - though you can visit as much as you are able and CBP lets you in.

Marrying and AOS is a pretty safe bet. If you do not want to do this, how are the chances of finding another visa sponsoring job ASAP?

After you marry and file to adjust it will be c 3 months before you could work.

Is that doable?
