Hi,

I have a question regarding my fiance's medical exam. From what we have gathered on this forum, it is clear to us that she should have her vaccinations done prior to the exam, however, we are still unsure whether she needs to schedule an appointment in advance before going to HCMC for her vaccinations and exam? If she needs to schedule an appointment, could this be done over the phone or does she need to be present? Please advise.

Thank you!

For medical exam, you need to call in to make an appointment before going to HCM. You can call to make an appointment for vaccination as well but they will tell you to just come in, however it is better to call them first. I went to see doctor for medical exam first and then vaccinate.

My then-fiancee had her vaccinations the day before her scheduled medical exam. The Quarantine Service place gave her the Yellow sheet to take to her panel physician. She did not have to come back for any additional shots but chose to because she wanted to complete her Hep-B series.

Your fiancee can choose to do it either way.

Thanks for the advice frontgear!

Did your wife schedule her vaccinations prior, or did she just come in? My fiance was able to book a medical exam over the phone but she couldn't get through to the quarantine center (84-8 3844 5306).

Can you or anyone please confirm if it is necessary to schedule a vaccination, and whether this is the correct number?

The Quarantine Service will not allow scheduled appointments. It was a walk-in. Tell you fiancee to show up at the door 15' to 7AM to get a number. They open at 7AM. She can come back later in the morning (or afternoon); however, they process very quickly. She would probably be in and out under an hour and a half.

The number for the Quarantine Service is correct. Try calling them early in the morning, but again, you won't be able to schedule an appt.

Do note that the medical exam fees have increased, effective Jan 1, 2015. It is $155 (as opposed to $140) for 15 or older, and $120 for under 15.

Tell your fiancee to bring all her shot records to the Quarantine Service. They will transcribe the shots onto the Yellow form and give her what she needs. If they are out of certain vaccine(s), they will tell her to come back at a later time. If she's still around then she can get the shot(s) when they become available. If not, and if they are required for AOS, she will get them in the U.S.

She will be giving the Flu shot for sure. Also, they require 2 doses of Varicella vaccine unless she had it. They might need proof of the latter.

See this list for reference.
