I 864 Income Question

 Share

I'm completing my I 864 and I have the following for questions:

#5 My entered my current income based on my salary for this year as indicated on my check. I presume this to be correct. right?

#6 It ask for total income for the previous 3 years. I took the total right off the transcripts that I filed as a single for the years 2013 & 2012.

In 2011 I filed jointly with my x-wife. I read on one help website answered by attorneys to still list the total and it's up to the NVC to separate the money. How do I list the income for 2011?

Thanks in advance! :)

#5... no you enter the amount you SHOULD make in the year 2015, not what you make on a pay check or your YTD amount.

#6... Put the income from your W2. Can you get a copy of your tax return?

#5 - I'm a federal worker and salary, so the amount on my pay stub represents what I will make for the year so I should be good here.

#6 I can put in income from my W-2. I may have a copy of my 1040, why would this help?

I'm planning on just sending my 2013 return as this is the only requirement, so the amount on my on my 2011 return probably won't come up anyway. I'm also sending a letter from my employer indicating current income as represented on line #5.

Yes as a federal worker you should have a yearly salary section on your LES. You need the entire tax return, so the 1040, w2, and everything else that would go with the 1040 if you had paper filed. But if you're not including it, then put the amount you used on the 1040 as your income. I agree that you "could" use the amount from the tax return transcript since it does ask for total income as reported on your tax return. Since 2013 is the most important at this time and you're not including the transcript, this is okay to do.

My husband is also a federal employee, not a contract worker, and we included 6 months of pay statments and didn't include an employer letter, mostly because his LES includes that yearly salary field and most pay stubs do not.

Filed: FB-2 Visa Country: Ethiopia
Timeline

The income you write for the past years must be the exact amount shown in your tax return whether filed alone or jointly. Just send them copies of w2 along with ur tax return. I got a checklist for the same issue. Good luck!
