Hello,

just signed up and I already have a questions for you guys.

My husband filed the I-130 form for me (Vermont Service Center).

He got the Notice of Action (1) last week.

Now I am wondering how long it will take for me to get my Visa...current processing times for the I-130 in Vermont say 5 months.

As far as I know the USCIS will send the approved form to the NVC but I am not quite sure how long it will take for them to re-approve my case (do they re-approve?)

Already impatient and I just can't wait to be in my husbands arms again.

You have quite a ways to go before getting to a visa. Lots of more fees and likely about a year from filing to getting a visa.

  1. petition to USCIS
  2. NOA1 (notice of action 1)
  3. NOA2 (if no RFE is requested.)
  4. Sent to NVC
  5. Send DS-261
  6. Pay AOS bill after invoice
  7. Pay IV bill after invoice
  8. Send AOS and IV documents
  9. Case complete
  10. Interview assigned
  11. Go for medical
  12. Have interiview
  13. Get visa
  14. Pay Immigrant fee
  15. POE
  16. Get SSN
  17. Get hard copy green card

FYI, the NVC doesn't "re-approve" a case, it acts as a document intake facility for immigrant visa cases prior to the file being shipped to the appropriate post overseas.

September 10, 2009: Arrived for first meeting in-person!
June 17, 2010: Arrived for second in-person meeting and start of travel together to other areas of China!

You are looking at 8 months to a year (a year is ore realistic Visa in hand). Here is the NVC process wiki read over. This is the next stage you were referring to after USCIS approval.

I filed the I-130 for my wife last week, at Vermont SC; we are yet to receive NoA-1 but hopefully we should receive it next couple weeks. I had sent a personal check for the $420 fee and I just checked online and it's been cashed.

We expect it to take about 5 months for the I130 process, followed by 30-60 days at NVC if everything is filed correctly. And another 2-3 months for the interview overseas -depends on consular post workload. Overall, average about 10-12 months for the visa, anything faster is a bonus.

It took us 5.5 months to get our NOA2 and then our case was at NVC for another 6 months. Then add another month until the interview took place. The consulate in Frankfurt is never too crowded (except for June/July when all the high school and college students have their interviews as well), so NVC can assign you a slot very quickly (I think my interview was 4 weeks after having our case completed by NVC). The question is how backed up the Service Center and NVC will be at that time...

Interview in Cairo August 29, 2016 :idea: - Interview went well, Approved :) wohoo!!!! *I (petitioner) attended interview with my husband. Overall interview went well, (with the help of this forum) questions asked to me When did I arrive Egypt? How many times have I visited? Do I live in Egypt? Questions asked to my husband Where did we meet? How did we connect?(this is what she asked, i guess she meant how did we stay in touch) Did we have a wedding?

Visa ready August 31, 2016.

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
