I think we need a HALAL thread of foods. coz, I did not know any of the things yall mentioned are Halal. what ice cream is halal? I love me Klondike Strawberry cheese cake flavor.

I call up the companies and ask if their food is kosher and if it contains alcohol. They'll usually send me quite a few coupons as well

Edy's ice cream is halal. Blue Bunny lists if things are kosher on their website. Check this page of the Klondike's website to see if it's kosher :)

Ya gotta watch out for the alcohol in cold medicines. Nyquil PM is a no-no as is marshmallows and Jello.

J (F)

I thought some things were permissable for medical reasons (like gel-caps and alcohol in some medicines) if there was either no other option or it was the best option?

None of my posts have ever been helpful. Be forewarned.

It's so distributed (with the whole 1tsp to the whole batch of 3-6 dozen (which leads me to another problem I have- -how can you get 6 dz out of that freakin batch? what are you eating, dime-sized cookies?! Anyway!) and the heat is pretty high, chemically, it should be out.. BUT... I always take the "safe" road when making something for my Dh to mail to him (like chocolate chip cookies!!) or if I am looking in the store at things and I don't even get involved with it. Vanilla powder vs extract is a pretty null issue since the alternative is there and easy :) My husband is hanafi, and I have heard it is permissable in some madab like you said and not in others.. I figured since I have the alternative I may as not bother to fool with it! Yep! Better safe than having him come to me one day and be all mad! LOL!

I made a double batch, and I think I may have gotten 30 cookies out of it

I'm not sure if jordanian hanafis hold to that. I read the ruling from a pakistani sheikh. I think that subcontinent hanafis tend to differ from hanafis in the rest of the world.

The rush was because the judge was trying to find any excuse to mot allow us to marry in the first place and we were down to the wire by the time our newly-hired attorney was able to convince him that if the US Embassy had validated my divorce ( a requirement), then why wouldn't he accept their word, if not my divorce decree. We did have a honeymoon in May this year.

I've never been divorced and I didn't have a divorce decree. I had a death decree. That was a typo I didn't catch. The rest is true.

R-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-ght

I'm not going to belabor this, JP. I have no reason to lie about that. I make a lot of typos. I've also made many posts about my first husband's death. So, take it as you will. Do I care? No, I don't.

There is no reason to lie about anything. The bottom line is if someone is Southern, so are you. If someone is Native American, so are you. If someone is Moroccan, so are you. If someone is Palistinian, so are you. Time and time again you have changed your story and now people are catching on. You change things to make them work in your favor, as proven.

Well, that's interesting, but not true. I'm happy to fill your drama quotient for tonight because, well, I'm so relentless ya know.

Yes because we all know that you want nothing to do with drama. I guess you just can't handle the fact that you just got PWNED!

If you say so. I doubt it myself.

That doesn't surprise me at all!

I'm not that good at romantic ideas. But there are cookie cutters in the form of hearts. You can flatten the dough and cut heart shaped cookies out of it. then decorate them with frosting. That sounds good.

Heart-shaped cookie cutters is a great idea! I sent my Dh a box of cookies for.. well.. just because. But it happened to coincide with Ramadan. Everyone was all lecturing me on wehat was and was not traditional, but that had NOTHING to do with what I was doing! i was just sending him cookies because I'm a silly American girl like that. So anyway, I made him 6 kids of cookies-- Oatmeal (some with and without raisens), Sugar, Chocolate chip, peanut butter, Shortbread, and Spritz (cookie press butter cookies). I colored the spritz dough and cut it myself. I colored it green and cut that into crecent moons, red and cut those into hearts, and blue and cut those into stars.

I remember the shock and dismay the first time I heard about icecream being not halal in some flavors LOL! Baskin Robbins has a list online if I remember correctly.
