oh, yeah, hillarious.....when you knowwwwwwwwwww you're going to get served liquid poison in every home you step foot in.....hysterical!! Nescafe and milk...yeah that sounds nice....

The funny thing about Nescafe in Jordan, is they don't consider it coffee. If you say you want coffee, you will get the arabic one. If you want Nescafe you have to ask for it specifically, lol. Nescafe in Jordan is Nescafe instant coffee, coffeemate or milk, and sugar. That and a lebeneh sandwich and I'm set

I have found some indian stores, arabic stores, moroccan stores. I will go to one of those stores and get the tea. problem is its proble in arabic. < I will bring a friend to translate >.

please explain how you get 2 tea pots on top of each other. I am thinking Kettle here.

anyways, I think need a degree to make tea :( never knew it was so much to it.

while on the subject one thing. does your spouses like ICED tea?

They actually sell special tea pots for this, if you are at an arabic store you will find them there. They come together and they are usually between $20-30 for the set. You may want to pick up some tea cups there too since he is probebly used having it in the smaller glasses. Most teas in the arabic store are not in arabic, mostly english. The kind we use at home is made by Sadaf, but the one with cardomon. He might not like that one, but they also sell it without the cardomon.

Yes my fiance likes iced tea, he would drink liquid caffine if he could.

oh wowow..

I do have a tea set. I think its almost every girls dream to have a tea party with her man. lol

Ken loved tea parties with barbie ...lol

I will go look for the special tea pots. if you can. if you can post a picture. so I get an idea of what to get. please..:) thank you in advance!

haha Noor has tried to explain it to me more than once...he says..."we don't really like it...it is more of a tradition thing" and I say.."ohh, tradition to poison your visitors"? ... we just laugh and laugh.... He said also that they use this coffee for family to family quarrels... if you fill the cup too full of nasty nasty coffee, then you are saying you hate them... which makes sense... offer horrible coffee to the enemies... They ALSO use it as .. if you drink the coffee, then you respect them (as they did with me...)

The Gahweh sada is the nasty nasty nasty coffee I was speaking of. Turkish coffee (to me) is the good stuff with sugar, kind of like cappuccino. There is a reason they serve the Gahweh sada in small portions....its coz nobody can handle any more than that!! Noor just laughs and laughs when I talk about the nasty nasty coffee.. his whole family even refers to it as "the nasty nasty coffee" ever since the day I went there and was served it for the first time....Yeah, I got to Jordan...slept a bit and then it was time to meet the family.. we go there and they offer me about a teaspoonful of this stuff in a teeny tiny cup that had a similar look as tea. Noor said drink this..you show respect by drinking it... So, I drink it. It was horrible! I handed the tiny cup back to them, being very proud of fulfilling my duty of respecting them (also growing hair on my chest from that horrid liquid)..and they GIVE ME ANOTHER CUP FULL!!! I drink it with a half smile on my face and give the cup back to them...they are all so happy and smiling about this. I think the torture is over with and I can move on with my life when..BAM, YES, ANOTHER CUP OF NASTY NASTY LIQUID :help: ... I said, through a clinched grin, Noor....I dont like it..I don't want anymore...he just laughed and after I drank it he said..now, shake the cup...this tells them you're done and they won't give you any more. I just looked at him and shook my head (and the cup)... EVERY HOUSE WE WENT TO...we had to drink the nasty nasty coffee.. thank god he told me early on to shake the cup..I got really good at it afte the first day......ugggg

I'm not a big fan of Gahweh Sada either but Jordanians LOVE it. My fiance can drink an entire thermos of it in one sitting. I will usually drink it once when offered but I know to shake the cup, LOL.

The reason for the 2 teapots is you are not supposed to have the pot with the directly on the flame. When you make tea this way (double pots) you basically let the water on the bottom simmer all day (so you can have tea when you want) and then you have the steeped tea on top. It keeps it from getting bitter.

We do that too, we refer to it as the "lazy way". There is a big difference in taste though, when I do have time to make it in the double tea pot I will.

When I was in Jordan, I rarely saw people drink water. They like caffine and sugary drinks. Its either juice (which is never natural, only the sugary #######), pepsi, coffee, or tea. They are so used to the sugar and caffine that it doesn't even get to them anymore. If I have an espresso, I feel the effects for 4 hours.

He promised he would at least try iced tea when he got here...so he's here for a couple days, we're sitting down for supper, and I pop out a cup of iced tea. He tries to back out and I don't give in..I force him to take a drink........ he's been hooked since. He can't get enough!!! He even told his family how to do it  I've created a monster!
