did you have something really special planned for his arrival? (besides well....you know. hehe)

i'm trying to put together something really romantic for when my fiance arrives. i know he'll be really tired and probably overwhelmed but i want to do something at home. cook a romantic dinner, candles, perfumes, music, shower, blahblah...all the normal stuff, but i want something MORE! something more thoughtful but i can't think of!

(i know its a little early but i have a lot of time on my hands to think so...)

what did you ladies do? or plan to do?:innocent:

I had planned an old fashion american picnic in our living room - hot dogs, potato chips, fruit salad, cole slaw, potato salad.

However, he was waaaaay too tired once he got here to do much of anything. I don't even remember if he ate anything at all.

Don't be disappointed if you plan a lot and then he just crashes on the bed and sleeps for 2 days straight.

I made no special plans and really it worked out for the best. He was SO overwhelmed and so tired that I don't think it would have had the impact one would hope for if I had planned something ultra romantic. He was so happy to be off an airplane, out of an airport, finally here and able to have a warm shower, food and hug that it was really enough. I know its not very romantic, but little things can mean a lot sometimes too.

I didn't plan anything "special". I just don't think of things like that.

I went with my Dad and little brother to pick him up at JFK (about 5 hours from me). He didn't get through customs and immigration until around 5 pm. We stopped somewhere in So. Conn. to have sushi, and then got back to my Dad's house around 8.

Wadi got to meet my other little brothers and my step-mom, and then we had a 2 hour drive back to Boston. He was pretty tired by the time we got back, so we just crashed.

The next morning we drove all around Boston so I could give him the grand tour!

As for flowers and romantic music and that sort of stuff, neither of us really appreciates that sort of thing, so we just went with the flow and it all worked out perfectly! :)

Well my husband is not here yet, either but I am *planning* already too

Have all my close peoples come with me to the airport. Have one of those signs that they have for important people at the airport.

Home for a quick shower..._____________ (fill in the blank here  ) then off to dinner. We probbably will hit my favourite Lebanese resturant, then see downtown Detroit at night, when it is all lit up. About the only time it looks good.

Then back home to lay back.... and again (fill in the blank here  )

That is about my plan. Nothing special but it's ok...the fill in the blank parts are most important anyway :devil:

maybe i'll do a really casual dinner. like pizza or grilled fish or something i know he loves that won't take me all day to make. he asked me if we could just stay in the house for three days and not go anywhere. i guess to fill in the blanks a lot. hahaha. ;)

my fiance eats romantic stuff up (a lot more than i do!hehe) i'm honestly not used to being showered with romance so its hard for me to think of cute things other than gifts. but i know if i do some little things within my home he'll appreciate it a lot. maybe he doesn't realize just how tired he'll likely be. are they in customs a long time after arrival?

He was tired after 22 hrs of travelling, we had an hour drive home from NOLA, and it was Christmas Eve. We stopped at my parent's for a bowl of gumbo and to say hello, then went home. He actually caught a small "2nd wind" and wanted to show me all the stuff he brought from home, watched a little tv and fell asleep! I think for the most part, these guys have had an arduous trip and aren't up for some "grand plans". I think a shower, some food, and some love from the woman they've travelled so far to be w/ is plenty! (L):luv:(L)

I have no clue what I'll do but I know that by the time I arrived in Egypt all I wanted to do was sleep!!!!!! I mean I was thrilled to see him and all that but seriously that was one looong trip! My whole family went to the airport. We all took him flowers and balloons that said "Welcome Home". When we finally got through immigration and we first saw each other we ran into each others arms. I even jumped over the little fence  After that he met my dad (he had already met my mom and brothers from numerous trips to Lebanon .. but never my dad). We then went to In & Out (it used to my favorite hamburger place ... now its OUR favorite). Then when we came home I gave him a tour of my parents house, took him inside my room and was talking a mile a minute when he stopped and just pulled me to him and kissed me (L) Then we all stayed up till 12 talking and we went to bed (seperated rooms .. we weren't married yet). The next day I gave him a tour of the city where I live and we snuck into the house where we live now and "spent time with each other".

Seriously though don't plan anything huge ... all they want is to see you and spend time with you. They can careless about the romantic stuff.

Reunited and it feels so good ....

I didn't plan anything unique because I still lived with my parents, and Sujeet was going to stay there too (in a different room) and so the big plan was for him to meet my family. His plane was delayed until around 9:30pm and he was exhausted. By the time we got home it was after 11pm, but he got to finally meet my mom and sister and a couple others. (He already met my dad because my dad went to India with me). As for the romantic part, we saved that for after the wedding.

Just wanted to add another thing...I had planned fun things to do the first weekend Sujeet would be here. He arrived on a Thursday night and I was looking forward to taking him sightseeing that weekend and Monday, because it was Labor Day weekend. Well Hurricane Frances hit near our area and our power was out for a day and a half and all the plans were ruined, but yet it was a very fun memorable experience. They had power cuts all the time in India so Sujeet felt at home.

I'll probably do the same as he did for me when I came to visit (isa). Similar situation as far as being tired and in a strange place. I'll go pick him up with a close friend of mine just like he did. I don't need to overwhelm him by bringing half of Michigan with me. Have something light for him to eat in case he feels hungry. I did not when I traveled there so I'm thinking he'll probably feel similar. Just go home and take it easy for the night.

okay so i'll stand at the airport in something cute holding a sign that says his name and balloon or something silly. then we'll take a taxi to my apartment, unload his bags, candles+ music= shower, dinner, bed. simple and sexy. :P
