Still no case number from the NVC. It's been 2 weeks. Is this something I should worry about? They keep telling me to wait 35 days. Can anyone else share their experience?

I waited 5 weeks for a case number from NVC.

It can take anywhere from 1 week to 8 weeks to receive a case number. Best advice is to just call them every day to see if they have your case number yet.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

It took us 31 days. I called on the 31 day and got all the information over the phone then a few days later I got the offical letter. Don't call everyday day. Wait and do it like they say ( start calling on the 30 day) and there will be a little less stress in your life. Nothing is done fast with this government.

We waited 33 days for our case #. And yes, like Paul and Svetlana suggests - don't call every day. Wait approximately 30 days and call. It's definitely less frustrating and stressful that way!

Good luck to you both!

33 days from your approval date or 33 days since your case was sent to the nvc?

We are right at 3 weeks today, still no case number. Calling every day is only as frustrating as you let it be :) for me its just another phone call on my list of daily tasks. In the meantime my husband and I are gathering and reviewing all our paperwork and checking travel.state.gov and VJ for any questions or items we don't fully understand. It hasn't been as stressful for me since my days are very busy to begin with. Once our case number is ready then we will be ready to continue our journey :) Wishing everyone much luck and patience thru this journey :) It will be worth all the struggle and frustration in the end :)

I just called for the first time after waiting as long as I could stand. Our NOA2 date was Jan 7 and NVC sent it to the embassy yesterday Jan 22.

It took about a dozen dials to get into the hold queue, then a 30 minute wait for someone to talk to. Be sure you don't press one when the automated message asks if it's been 35 days :)

Oh I did press one. What's the difference if I just let it ring?

Update: I finally got in and talked to someone before my phone died. Petition approved Dec 8, NVC received it December 22, NO CASE has been generated it. But documents are there sitting on their office somewhere. Lady told me, sometimes it takes 42 days NOT 35 days. She told me to call at the end of the month to see if they generated a case already.

wheeew! Atleast, calling eased some of my anxiety.

CSC batch sends cases to NVC. It seems like they let a pretty big stack form before sending said bathes. It doesn't surprise me that yours took that long. That's the only good thing about TSC. Mine arrived about 1 week after NOA2, IIRC.

Edit: It took me about 2 weeks to get a Case #. I remember this all now. I don't actually know when NVC received it because they told me they don't know. That was 2 different Agents saying that. So I put the date that Case # was assigned as the date it was given to me, the day I called. That was my 2nd call, 15 days after NOA2. 1st call was like 7 days after NOA2 & that didn't give me any good info.
