I like how your graph appears to show food stamp use etc, rise in 2008. It's almost as if there was a financial crisis going on? Oh wait, that's right there was.

Fair enough. Here's a graph with a little more recent data. Notice how it keeps going up and up after the financial crisis was over? How do you explain that? I think you know the answer deep down, but can't bring yourself to terms with it. It's ok. Denial can be good thing. Keeps people blissfully happy and unaware at the same time. It's like drugs without the side effects. Hopefully one day you'll be able to face reality without the crutch of liberal propaganda. There's hope for you dude!!!

I never claimed labor was the ONLY cost. That would be silly. However, it has a huge effect.

The example you gave, said that beer prices would rise exactly the same amount. It was a ridiculous argument to make, because anyone capable of thought would say, that brewers don't employ a worker for every bottle of beer that is produced, so it stands to reason that the price of beer would hardly to be expect to increase anywhere near what you suggested. Also, a higher wage would likely translate into less workers leaving employment and thus saving money on training new hires.

Really? Are you purposefully being obtuse or completely oblivious to how an economy works?

Thanks for your well thought out contribution to the subject. /sarcasm.

I can see that you are either unwilling or unable to have an intelligent debate on this subject. Please educate yourself and come back later. I hope that I've given you a starting point.

The smart play for this brewery to minimize their increased wage and payroll tax costs might be to automate more of those warm body jobs, or move their facility to a location with lower labor costs. Perhaps south of the boarder?

Maybe move their entire company south of the border? The U.S. has the highest corporate tax rate in the developed world. Who could blame them for moving when the current administration has made it a priority to demonize the job creators in this country?

I just want everyone else to pay the same percentage as me. Isn't that what we all want?

Me too. It's absurd that I see people pay in almost nothing and get back 6 and 7 grand every year. The EIC tax credit needs to go.

We all need to pay the same rate/ Let's get the flat tax done. One rate for all . Oddly the Dems seem to hate that proposal .

It's not hard to understand the dynamic. If one is actually interested to understand it.

What your graph doesn't show is that food stamp use has actually started to decline.

 The first link shows the total number of people receiving food stamps at 46 million. 3 million higher than what I posted in that graph. Thank you for your assistance in making my point!!

Republicans have the majority now. I'm sure they'll push a bill through now right? (Not holding my breath). People living off capital gains will always pay less (percentage) in taxes than you and I. That's fair.

Apparently you've never heard of vetos. Pay real close attention to what happens at the 2:30 mark of the video below:

E. The President
- the bill is sent to the President for review.
A bill becomes law if signed by the President or if not signed within 10 days and Congress is in session.
If Congress adjourns before the 10 days and the President has not signed the bill then it does not become law ("Pocket Veto.")
If the President vetoes the bill it is sent back to Congress with a note listing his/her reasons. The chamber that originated the legislation can attempt to override the veto by a vote of two-thirds of those present. If the veto of the bill is overridden in both chambers then it becomes law.
F. The Bill Becomes A Law
- once a bill is signed by the President or his veto is overridden by both houses it becomes a law and is assigned an official number.
