Yes, it's possible, although there are catches.

Good question!

US Citizen (petitioner) can visit without much problems though I did read of one person getting hassled by UK Customs and Immigrations to prove that they did not intend to immigrate to the UK.

In the other direction UK citizen (beneficiary) may have to do the same, prove that they do not intend to immigrate to the USA, by having a letter from employer, and documented assets back in the UK. Most do not have problems visiting once or twice during the K-1 processing period.

One week ago, I visited my boyfriend in the US. It was not easy to get in. They asked me all kind of questions, like how much money I have right now, so they could send me back right away and they even called the Escort. So they checked my records, like how often was I in the States, how long, etc. Finally, after one hour of questioning I could enter. The thing is I came from South America and I would have had a connection flight to germany anyways. So I decided to visit my boyfriend for 1 week. So, I think the fact that I came from South America helped a lot. If I would have come directly from Germany, Im not sure if they let me in. It can cost a lot of money if they dont let you in, cause you have to book another flight and fly back the same day. I think I had luck.

I(USC) am planning on visiting my fiance in Nepal in May and staying until early July. By that time I hope our petition will be there as well at the Kathmandu embassy and maybe his interview might be scheduled during my visit - I can dream can't I? I don't think I would want to visit him until that point in case there were any RFEs or other snags and the CIS tried to contact me at home.

I'm confused as to why you think it helped you out to come from South America instead of Germany? I'm not sure how the visa process goes from South America but I know that any German can come into the US for up to 90 days. I know people worry about getting into the US while their petitions are going, but I'm still really confused as to why you think it helped you out to come from South America.

Tao can't come to me in the USA, but I can go to and from China at will. Seems completely unfair! 46 days and I will be back in China this time with my 14 yr old son. He is very excited.

normally if you are from a country that has no issue travelling to the US without a visa you should have no problem, but there can always be a reason not to let you in.

The biggest thing I have been told (from the agents at the border) is to provide plenty of proof that you have solid ties to your home country (Canada in my case). Proof would be things like owning a home, have a job (get letter from employer), bank accounts, minor children (I am bringing photocopy of their birthcertificates, health cards and passport as well as Revenue Canada form showing I receive Child Tax Credit in their names), and of course a return ticket home!! And if you can prove you have travelled there before without issue. They tend to ask me when my last visit was, how long I was there, when did he come here last and for how long. Makes me very uncomfortable but it's only a few minutes.

Be honest when crossing because if you get caught in a lie it is much worse.

****just my experience
