It is $265 for us too, though she pays at the embassy on the day of interview.

I figured that was the case but wanted to make sure. Just got it confirmed by the embassy :)

One more thing.. I may have missed this being mentioned but is everyone supplying Letter of Intent for the interview??

Yes, I have heard that since we (the people who went to TSC and had to wait forever) kind of ended up with an outdated Letter of Intent so it's best to bring one with a date closer to the interview date.

Congrats in the approval. Money in bank accounts is only important if sponsor is unemployed.

Please see following for income limits

So, this is Jan writing for the first time. After all this stress is over.

@Maria&Seve: It used to be $240. They changed it on September 1st 2014. I wonder if we can claim the old price, since that's when we applied, and it's not our fault how long the TSC took. But not sure it's worth the hassle. The letter of intent can actually be written within 90 days, as far as I've been told.

In general, for anyone going to Montreal... the order that they give you for your Packet 4 list is absolute #######. My best advice: Get all the documents on that list, but put them in a small staples folder with pockets, each type of documentation on its own. They will ask you for the DS-160 and the Courier confirmation along with your password first, then your DS-160 and your payment confirmation at the reception, then you basically give all the documents to the first clerk, the officer receives them, calls you when they have time, you do another fingerprint scan, in case you try to fool them with a body-double, apparently, then he asks you some questions, that's it. Pretty straight forward.
But the clerk will not ask for the documents in that order. She'll go down the list, sometimes miss an item, then go back, so since I had them all in order, I kept having to pull documents from the back, the middle, the front, all over the place. Despite me being so prepared, I looked completely unprepared because of the new way that they handle these things.

In any case, our case is AP now, so hopefully I can pick up the package in Kitchener by next Wednesday.

Edit: I didn't know that word eerily similar to "cap" was already considered swear word. My apologies. Is "manure" allowed? Or "bollocks"?

Probably not worth the hassle. Yeah they told me they changed it recently but it is weird that they haven't changed it in their checklist they send out. I guess they forgot but it is weird that someone else haven't pointed out the difference yet...

Well, what I noticed at the interview... there seem to be some people who definitely have read through these forums, but don't share any knowledge for themselves. They told us to press the 19th floor button in the elevator, for example. Now I was there at 6:10am, about an hour before everyone else, 1.5 hours before they let you in. I was well prepared, was the first through the security check, first at the elevator. And out of politeness, I press the button. Two people quietly pushed through to the other door, nudging me aside, taking the first spot from me. So I think a lot of people will prepare with the help of the forums, see how things have changed, but not all might share that information. I.e. leeching information, but not spreading it, if that makes any sense?

Yes, which is strange because it won't hurt you to share the information. It's not like "okay, if I keep this to myself I will benefit from this and they will fail". Why not help people out and we all benefit from it?

Seriously, they cut in front of you? That's awful, I hate when people do that.

I understand that nowadays you sometimes have to be egotistic. But in these cases it doesn't hurt to be altruistic... oh well.

On a more thread-related note. I just checked the status, and it already went from "AP" to "Issued". Within one day after the interview! :D

Yeah I am still trying to learn that. I am too naive and always thinks they best of people and it doesn't always work out in a good way :P

Congratulations! Awesome news :) Do you have an idea when you'll be heading over to the US?

Thank you! :) Well, if things work out, I'll pick up my passport and package by Wednesday, and start packing my car then, so I can drive down on the morning of Friday, the 24th. I might even do it (with breaks) in one go, since I doubt I'll be able to sleep from all the excitement. Roughly 24 hours of driving. But totally worth it, imho.

Yes I am sure it will be worth it. When you are doing that kind of trip, 24 hours will seem like nothing!

Yes, I have heard that since we (the people who went to TSC and had to wait forever) kind of ended up with an outdated Letter of Intent so it's best to bring one with a date closer to the interview date.

We were also unclear on whether it was necessary, but we just did another one last month just in case. It might vary by embassy, but on our embassy's website they tell you only if your Notice has expired is it required (that would be four months from the date of NOA2) so we probably don't need it, but I am taking it anyway.
