@Steph: It applies to those under 30 only As far as I know. And it's not a path to permanent residence or citizenship, just putting off deportation.

Lots of people think it solves all of their problems, and while it's a good move, it doesn't fix them.

This guys story is really interesting and covers a lot of it - pre announcement last year:

Immigration here is broken, sure - but parts of it are WAY more broken than others.

@mike. It's under 31, but I just read it , it does have a lot of conditions to qualify. Also, I can't tell by your timeline how you went about your visa journey, but it doesn't seem as though you waited abroad/had your loved one wait on an i130 or i129. Can you relate to the struggle that is being away from the person you love and having to spend extra money to take off from work and make eextra visits? It may seem petty from the outside but the situation is absurd imo and I'm not going to stop trying to do what I can to raise awareness.

Thnks for the heads up that it's the system all around and not just fiance visas, though. This movement should reflect on the big picture.

If your tracking number starts with WAC, you're at the CSC, you were not transferred! There are no transfers at this time. If your number starts with SRC you're at the TSC and that's where you will serve your entire sentence.USCIS isn't fair.

They don't care about you.

I adjusted on a VWP, as our situation changed quite dramatically ( a sick family member) - we are waiting to get AP so we can do the actual family wedding thing, which is well nerve wracking. What I see a lot of on here is that everyone seems to think that who ever is in a different situation has it better. Whereas each situation is unique and has it's own stresses. To be honest the whole system is broken, inefficient and kafkaesque.

Regardless, all of us who are married to USC's are far better off than 99% of those who are here or trying to get here for one reason or another.

I guess part of the reason I'm more passionate about this is that my wifes university research is into human trafficking and we ended up learning way more about how other people are impacted by immigration laws etc.

Hence I think that any campaign focused on speeding up marriage visas should be part of a greater campaign regarding citizenship and immigration, which is why I pointed to Vargas's video. I think his #DefineAmerican campaign is something people might want to get in behind as a bigger picture one.

https://www.facebook.com/DefineAmerican

It has media outlets, followers already and a bigger support base.

But that's just my opinion. As I think that while our situation is incredibly frustrating, full of stress and tears - at least there is light at the end of the tunnel, for many there isn't.

Hang in there guys. Wait it out. It sucks waiting, and I remember feeling super frustrated and upset that CSC processed so much quicker than TSC. The wait is worth it. It doesn't help your frustration right now, but it will be over soon. In the meanwhile... Plan your weddings! Get your homes ready for your fiance to move in! Get stuff ready for NOA2 and the interview! Research the other stuff you need to know once your honey gets here (like getting a license, getting SSN, getting bank account, getting them added to your bills, etc.). The extra "once they're here" stuff takes up so much more time than I ever anticipated!

We waited over 6 months for any news from USCIS. It took about 11 months for him to get here - and that was with us scouring the boards for every last shortcut we could find. Read the guides, read the forums, figure out ways to create as many shortcuts for yourselves as you can.

I was mad about waiting months and months while CSC filers got approved in a matter of days. I contacted all of my local/state legislators. It doesn't do any good unless you have extenuating circumstances!!!! It's bull, and it stinks, but just sit back, relax, wait.

They'll be here soon.

And once they're here... you'll forget about how much waiting was the worst thing ever. I promise!

As frustrating as it is, we are hardly dealing with a grave injustice here. We have legal avenues to get our status sorted. I feel sorry for those who are really up the creek without a paddle, such as the kids who were brought here as kids without their knowledge or consent, spent their life growing up and going ot school, without even possibly knowing their status. Now they are adults they have absolutely zero way to become legal if they are over 30. Now that's an injustice.

We are lucky.

You do realize we really do not have legal avenues. The U.S. wants us to think we do. Unless we bring our loved ones here illegally, we are at the mercy of the embassies abroad. They have the ultimate decision on whether or not you and your love ones will ever be united and the doctrine of consular non-reviewability, passed by Congress, made sure we, as U.S. citizens, had no way to legally challenge the u.s. consulates abroad.

Trust me I know, I've tried.

At least if you bring them here illegally, you can get USCIS, Congressman and liberal hearted people involved that could possibly gain them TPS or even parole.

Owe, let me add my mother and my father in law passed away last month. My mother suddenly. As long as my husband has been knowing my mother the embassy wouldn't even grant him a temporary visa to come to her funeral. She was only 57. Her heart gave out.

I don't know, I don't think it could hurt honestly. And although I don't think USCIS would care, it's possible it could get media attention if we pulled an all out twitter campaign and that could put pressure on USCIS to get their act together. I'm in.

@DudleyTapirs is my twitter handle, I'll RT anything anyone else tweets and add my own. I think we could really drum up some sympathy for the plight of the TSC people on twitter if we can get this rolling

I appreciate people who are willing g to kick at the waves to effect change for people who endure the process after them.

It's quite unselfish. I'm trying to help CSV people whose files were misdirected in the processs. That's what happened to us.

The timeline is baloney as far as I'm concerned. The first post in this thread gives you an idea:

Hi Mike, yes it should be about the bigger picture :) That's the plan. I was speaking with students today and realized they are going through the same thing at TSC, waiting on approval so they can go home and visit their family on each break. So essentially it's just to have someone recognize that the work load is unfair not only to the people waiting but the people working at USCIS, if they have that much on their desk they too deserve to have help and things moved around. Thanks for highlighting #DefineAmerican I think that what Obama did was a step in the right direction but as always it will be a struggle to fix the system totally.

To address the difference in processing times between centers.

Not all CSC K-1's are fast. I've been waiting since August 4, about 6 months and I have heard nothing. I put in for a service request because I am past normal processing time. All I received was an email telling me we are sorry but we can't give you an exact timeframe of when your petition will be processed.
