Hello Everyone,

I'm wondering if you can help me out and tell me what, if anything can be done. My father in law has petitioned for both of his unmarried over 21 daughters (he is a permanent resident). The first one's petitition was submitted back in July 2013 and was assigned to the Vermont Service Center. Back in January 2014, we received a confirmation letter stating that they received his change of address and that any additional info would be sent.

This April 2014, he submitted another petition for his other unmarried over 21 daughter and received a letter for more back up information needed because of the birth certificate submitted was issued way after her 16th birthday. We submitted addiitonal evidence along with a DNA exam in December. We just received another notice dated 1/15 that states the petition has been approved and they ahve sent the original visa petiion to the Dept of State National Visa center in Portsmouth, NH. Seems that the office that was processing this paperwork is the California Service Center.

Is there a reason why the 2nd petition has been approved a whole lot faster than the 1st petition? It would be a really sad story if the 2nd sister was able to come here so much sooner than the first sister, seeing that she was petition almost a year later. Is there anything we can do?

I look forward to hearing from anyone.. Thank you!!!!

Are you aware that the entire F2B process will take 7 years?

Regardless of when the i130 was approved, they will be processed according to their priority dates. The 2nd petition being approved sooner doesn't mean that it will be processed first (at NVC).

There's nothing you can do to expedite the first. It can take years to get its approval which is normal for this kind of petition.

Assuming they are from the Dominican Republic (check under All Chargeability Areas Except Those Listed).

As of Feb 2015, those F2B in-line for embassy interviews are those filed with priority dates EARLIER than 22MAY08.

They have to remain UNMARRIED for the entire visa process. Marriage will void their F2B petitions.

Ok, thank you very much.... I was mislead by someone that because the approval on the petition process was so fast, that meant they would be here pretty fast too..... What if one of them was previously married and divorced prior to the petition started and a divorce certificate was provided?

That's fine. She is still considered unmarried.
