another theory is that he caught syphalis (or some other nasty ### STD) from a Jewish prostitute when he was younger...hence his hatred for all things jewish. Outstanding logic.

He didn't really have any hatred towards them until he fought WW1. In WW1 there was resentment towards the Jews. "the Jews are back home screwing your girlfriend while we fight in the trenches". That was one belief.

A Jewish doctor tried to save his mothers life when he was a child. He tried but failed. Maybe some resentment there.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

More likely from his niece Geli than from any prostitute (as Hitler was poor as well as ugly; pros's don't like customers who can't pay).

Actually, he picked up his hate of Jews from Alois (who may have had a Jewish boss he thought knew squat--notwithstanding that Alois knew even less).

Was he Christian or nazi?

Well I dunno - but I DO know he was a definite chopf##k, with f##ktard leanings and a nice dose of asshat as a side salad.

As for Stalin - he was a massmurdering Russian chop##k

I can do history me.

Well put. No need for a "scholarly source" to come up with this hypothesis.

I've had bosses like that. I may have hated them but I never ever thought that I would want to exterminate their race. :(

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Of course, by embracing Hiter's philosophy (the public one at least) they weren't exactly christian anymore. That's not to say they recognised that fact, any more than American Evangelicals who stood behind Bush on Iraq.

That's a rather poor comparison, though. Those standing behind Bush do so out of their own free will. The masses that "cheered" Hitler in Germany didn't do so out of their free will. Not any more so than those "cheering" Stalin in Russia. Remember that Hitler's party did not manage to capture but a third of the vote in the 1932 elections. Even in 1933, with many Social Democrats and Communists in concentration camps or jailed or murdered, the Nazis still failed to get a majority of the vote. ;)

True enough. What I'm saying is that people who sympathised with Hitler (and there were some), might very well have described themselves as good christians, but the views they sympathised with ran counter to that.

I mean its fair to say that there were people who knew what was going on in the concentration camps for example, people who lived near them and chose to purposefully ignore what was going on, even after the SS pulled out because deep down they agreed with the anti-semitic views that Hitler promoted.

In other words, people who claim to follow an ideology are judged primarily by their actions (or lack of) not by what they say or claim to be.

Very valid point. In fact, it would seem that the Catholic Southwest of Germany was less concerned with Hitler being in power than they were with the possibility of an atheist / communist government in Germany. Not sure how else the strong gains for the Nazi's in 1933 vs. 1932 in that region could be explained.

When the Nazi Party began in the 1920s, it averaged 2000 members. When the Nazi Party came to power in 1933, party membership had risen to 2.5 million. In 1945, when the Nazi Party was disbanded, official membership rolls listed a total of 8.5 million.

Germanys population was around 80 million at the time. How many were old enough to join? Not sure, but there was no near a majority of the population in the party.

And many of those that were "in the party" were there for nothing but opportunistic reasons. Same as with the various Communist parties of the Eastern block after WWII.

And people that worked for the state (like teachers) were forced to join too.

My father best friend from the Army. His best friend married a German lady, I guess you could call her a war bride. She helped with the american red cross durning WW2. Back in 1936 durning the olmipics *sp* in Berlin as a young girl they gave flowers to Hilter. She looked into his eyes and she said, ' his eyes were the most evil looking eyes she ever seen'

she can tell about a lot of history about the German war. Her brother was in the Hitler younth as a young 16 yr old doing test flights of the rockets etc.. had a brother killed. She had a hard life and she loves america.. when she came here, she felt blessed and very lucky.
