Hi,

I am sponsoring my mom. She is the only beneficiary. My salary is well over the limits prescribed by AOS. I can produce W2 fro last 3 years and significant portion of our assets and investments are held jointly with my wife. I have 1 account just in my name.

1. I am leaning towards 864EZ for being simple and straight forward. But, our company announced lay offs. If I am laid off, will it cause any issue if I file 864EZ ?

2. However, 864 allows me to list some assets besides my income - where I can add the assets held only in my name to bolster my ability to support the beneficary. Is there any guidline for lower limit of assets value to pass the muster of the scrutiny by NVC/Consulate.

Thanks,

hi

you will need to file an i864 because you will need a joint sponsor, you need to be working, even if you had assets, you need to prove that you are employed, letter of employment, paystubs, something that will show that you are currently employed
