I don't know how well you know him.

You might want to spend a $100 to run a full background check on him

from an online and see what else may shows up for both your protection

and for USCIS filing.

I second this. I also find it strange that his conviction was 15 years ago and yet there is still a sense that you're waiting for the court to prove that it was false. Please genuinely think objectively about all of this. A very short engagement to somebody who may not be able to sponsor you or go back to your home country doesn't sound like fun. Or wise, to be honest.

According to wiki, keeper of all that is true,

The Act also for the first time limits the rights of citizens or permanent residents to petition to immigrate their spouse or other relatives to the U.S. if the petitioner has a listed child sex abuse conviction. If that is the case, then the petition cannot be approved unless the Department of Homeland Security determines in its unreviewable discretion that there is no risk of harm to the beneficiary or derivative beneficiary.

If that's the case, unless his child conviction gets overturned (after 15 years don't hold your breath), it appears the odds are not great.
