I have motion sickness terribly. We are flying to England in March and I am already planning out my medications. The last two times I flew, I took Dramamine ( Dimenhydrinate ). It worked well but I had to keep taking it often. My children are going this time and my daughter sometimes has motion sickness also.

I really messed up last time I flew. Due to a problem with the aircraft, they had us get off the plane and I had a flight delay (lasted 9 hours). I had already taken the medications after we boarded, so I needed additional medicine 8 hours later before boarding the second time!

I have thought about the patches but don't know if they work better than the pills.

Any suggestions?

personally I would buy something like Bonine.. They work for 24 hours..

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

I use bonine when I go on cruises and it's kid safe too! Doesn't make you all groggy like the damamine tends to.

You will not meet anyone as motion sick as me! On a ferry from the Irish mainland to an island the ship staff said they had never seen someone throw up so much and they paraded me around the boat like a hero :) But what I've found to work is a combination of medication like dramamine (or whatever else works for you or others) plus these wrist bands. I don't know, but they make that special difference to me.

Ginger is a great natural remedy for motion sickness. You can get ginger candy from places lik ewhole foods or try cookies that use real ginger.

Since your motion sickness is severe, it may not work alone, but might help ease the need for medication.

LOL  That actually reminds me of the time I was on a snorkeling day trip. The water was extremely choppy and I sucked down about a gallon of salt water then became extremely "green". One of the tour guides said "feed the fish, Lady". I said "eeeww, no, those people are swimming out there". He said "what do you think you were swimming in!"

Oh yeah and peppermint. You can get peppermint smelling liquid (small enough for the plastic bag o' liquids) or peppermint pills. Both of those help me in times of minor nausea.

I use dramamine for the motion sickness on the planes and trains, Xanax for the panic attacs and orbit peppermint gum for general nausea

I think when I go this next time, I'm going to try the Bonine for the trains. :)

Yep bonnies work really well. For some reason they are not available in some countries.. I am sure there was a mythbuster episode where the trialled various medications and techniques..
