MNL# received in letter but Embassy has not contacted me yet, what's next?

Hi,

I've been reading through the very helpful threads, and I would just like to confirm if I understood the information I gathered correctly.

As the subject reads, my fiancé in the US already received a letter with a MNL#. At the bottom of the letter it says, "the U.S. Embassy or consulate will contact your fiancée when they are ready to process her petition." But I think some here just go ahead and get a medical, pay for the visa fee and set an interview appointment with just the MNL# without waiting for a letter from the embassy, am I right? Thank you!

No you will likely not be contacted by USEM. You can start everything now, including paying the visa fee, scheduling the interview, going to the medical, going to CFO, etc.

How long did it take you to receive your mnl number after your noa2? My noa2 was approved 1/15 and I received the official letter yesterday. I was wondering how long after he noa2 will I receive the mnl#

Very few ever receive "the letter" from the embassy, so for sure do not wait for it.

If you have your MNL # it is ROCK n ROLL time. Follow the flashing arrow below for details on the complete process.

The letter with MNL is dated Dec. 12, although it arrived in the mail first week of January. Is that the same as an NOA2?

NOA2 will not do you any good at St. Luke's. BTW the NOA2 is your approval notice from USCIS.

The letter from NVC with the MNL # on it is exactly what makes St. Luke's happy.

Lol. Awesome! Btw, should I have the medical results (and the rest of the requiments) before picking the date for the embassy interview? Is that the best way to go?

No. One of the documents that SLEC wants to see is the interview confirmation page/letter/email. You can complete the medical before getting the interview schedule IF you have your NVC letter at least, but the majority of the time it is better to have the interview scheduled first.

2) pick a date for the interview

3) go to st. Luke's (with MNL#)

4) go to interview date with all the requirements and hope and pray for the best.

Read the embassy instructions letter, all of it. Use it for you checklist as you progress.

I had my medical today which Hank recommended (thanks again, Hank) even though we haven't received any letter. And true enough, they just asked for Appointment Letter, NVC Letter (with MNL#) and the other required stuff. I got there at 6:30 am and finished the first part at noon. I will return on Monday for MMR and chickenpox vaccine.
