Hi. My son and I had our interview January 13 and we're currently waiting for our passports to be available for pick up. I recently found out all spousal immigrant visas are required to attend a pre departure CFO seminar.

Is this absolutely true? Is there any way around it and be able to leave without attending it at all?

Absolutely TRUE, you nees the cfo certificate to get the sticker when u have ur passport with visa in hand.

You can't leave philippines without the sticker, you'll be refuse on ur departure time.

Thanks. But I still haven't received my passport with visa on it. Do you think it's a good idea to just wait until I get it to go to the seminar?

Very true. Both you and your son will need the CFO sticker in your passport before you will be allowed to exit the Philippines. Whether your son needs to attend depends on his age.

There are details on CFO in my link below, it states K-1 visa info, but CFO is the same... so follow the flashing arrow then click the CFO tab once there.

Thanks, Rissa and Hank! My son's only three years old and I plan to just leave him at home and just bring the requirements needed for him to get the CFO sticker in his passport.
