Has anyone gone through the interview at the manila embassy for K1? Im worried about the amount of proof they need of our relationship and intent to marry. I have not known my fiancee for a long time and I worry they will deny us based on that alone. Im also worried about the amount of time we have spent together. Ive seen other embassy are strict about how much time they spend together in person. What evidence can I bring that will convince them that we are a true couple that badly want to be together? I can't stand the thought of not being together for another 6 months.

If you have an approved petition from the USCIS and NVC from USA then you have already provided all the proof the US government needed. The USEM interview is just where the fiancée has to provide information, such as all the documents listed at the USEM website.

I went to my fiancee's interview recently and the things we needed to provide to the CO to prove our relationship were pictures together and Facebook chat log. Also, the CO asked how many visits together? When is the wedding in USA? What USA state will you marry in? Will you have civil or church wedding? How did you meet?

My fiancée was super confident with all her answers, then approved :)

Thank you for your reply. How do you get the chat log? Also......um.......can you omit some of the chat ? There are some rather racy items in our conversation that I dont think the consulate needs to know. Hehehe

Here's the link of how we did it:

The CO didn't read the log. She simply saw our stack of approximately 10 pages and moved on with the interview.

Eight trips to the PI to visit her over the past 20 months. Some trips one week, some trips 2-3 months.

As far as I know, the requirement is to have met once in the past two years.

We had friends recently who were approved no problem after knowing each other 4 months and met in the PI one time for a couple weeks.

Thousands upon thousands met only once and then for just a short time before starting the K-1 process, so don't worry about only being with each other for a short time. What happens at other embassies has NOTHING to do with what happen at the embassy in Manila.

Read the embassy instructions letter for what is required by the embassy.

As for chat logs, you only need a sampling (and yes you can edit some things out ;) ) for us I just did a copy/paste approach from the chat screen to a word processor program, but the embassy didn't look at any of it, they did want to see a few pictures though.

You sure are making me feel better. Hehehe. If I can figure out gow to print out out 6 months of Facebook chat log without the provocative pictures I think we will be ok. Lol

Only print out a sampling of the chat log, a day here a day there, not everything.

Relax. There are thousands that have gone through USEM with absolutely no problems at all....many of those who have only met or spent time together ONCE with their fiances. I am one of those people who only met my wife once before her visa interview. We knew each other a total of 8 months before she had her visa interview. We were approved easy.

The only evidence of relationship they wanted to see from us was pictures. And we had a lot of them. Bring pictures, bring a sampling of chat logs, emails, etc. as well. Attend the visa interview if you are able. When we were there for my wife's interview, nearly everyone was approved. The atmosphere was so relaxed, all the COs were very easy going. My wife was even joking around with the American COs that interviewed her.

Point is, just relax. The process is not as overwhelming difficult as you may think. If you want an idea of how other's embassy experiences were, click on Embassy Reviews at the top (or here: http://www.visajourney.com/reviews/) and under Consulate choose Philippines and under Topic choose K-1. You can also click on my timeline to read my embassy review, which also lists the questions my wife and I were asked.

Zedayan. I read your timeline. Why was your medical so far from your embassy appointment? Is that a normal gap? Almost a month?

During the time my wife had her interview, it was nearly impossible to get an interview date. And any interview dates that did show up disappeared within seconds. Not minutes...seconds.

She had the first day of her medical before we even had an interview date. The reason we planned for her to have the medical was by the off chance we could snag an interview date that was only a few days away. Lucky for us, as she was at her first day at the medical I was able to get an interview date for her.

How many times did you meet? I worry they will think we didn't meet enough times.

My wife is Filipino. We only met once in Singapore for 2 weeks. I did not even have the chance to meet her family before we filed. They asked her a few questions in Manila:

1. How many rooms in your fiance's house?

2. What are your wedding plans?

3. What is your fiance's sister's name and what are her children's names?

4. What are the full names of your fiance's parents?

5. What does your fiance do for a living? How long has he worked there?

6. Why did your fiance not visit you in the Philippines?

Basically she was asked 10 questions (I forget the other 4 they asked her); but they are questions anyone with a deep relationship (with good communication) could answer easily.

The evidence she brought with her to the interview was as followed:

1. Pictures of us together in Singapore.

2. Emails (1 email for each month we been in contact, around 2 years)

3. Text chats: (a few texts each month for 2 years)

4. Western Union receipts for money I sent her.

5. Gift receipts from gifts I sent her and her family on special days like holidays and birthdays.

6. Copies of our airline tickets and passport stamps.

Good luck!

Edit: Just remembered the other 4 questions:

7. When were you engaged?

8. How did he propose to you?

9. Have you ever met his family or spoke with them?

10. How do you know you love your fiance?

Thanks for the info. That actually was a lot of help. While we're on the subject, does anyone know what I have to send to the embassy for packet 3 so they will schedule an interview?
