The NFL stated they have interviewed 40 people concerning this incident. Bob Kraft issued a statement saying that the league spent 3 days in Foxboro and that he instructed all employees to be transparent and cooperate fully. That's a lot of people, and as of yesterday Brady wasn't one of them.

I don't see this going anywhere. The most that will come out of it imo is that QB's stop tweaking the balls.

I'd agree if it wasn't New England. Unless there is some simple explanation, I think heads will roll. Mr. Kraft has to decide what kind of organization he wants his name associated with. The NFL has been taking a lot of flack for what has been going on for several years. The Commissioner has to be careful with this one. As a lifelong NE fan, I hope it is something simple, but I don't see that happening.

This isn't about an under inflated ball. That in itself is quite minor. The NFL destroyed the evidence in SpyGate. Why? IMO, they were covering something that they never wanted to surface again. Who has ever heard of evidence being destoyed that quickly? I think the League has egg on it's face in many areas.

Does inflate-gate have any impact on the Superbowl?

Edited by Rob L

The content available on a site dedicated to bringing folks to America should not be promoting racial discord, euro-supremacy, discrimination based on religion , exclusion of groups from immigration based on where they were born, disenfranchisement of voters rights based on how they might vote.

That remains to be see. Will the league finish it's investigation and make a report by next Sunday? If there are penalties, fines, suspensions, etc, will it be before or after the game? What if Brady or Belichick get suspended over this?

How big of a distraction is this to the players? Or will it get them charging out of the gate like a wild bull with his balls tied tight?

I realize many of you like to talk about the same things day in and day out. What a bunch of boring people. It's time for an important discussion, football. Real football of the NFL variety, not that sissy soccer stuff.

For not being sissy, how come they wear so much protection? Australian rules on the other hand is a much more exciting and physical game. No stopping play every twenty seconds. Edited by InKorea

The Hawks have blood on their hands too. Of course the Pats are a media favorite. How many Seattle players have been suspended for using PED's since Carroll took over? What about the $300,000 fine the NFL levied on the team for illegal practices? Very selective reporting. But this game is quite fitting, two teams with problems following the rules meeting for the cheaters championship.

Brandon Browner comes to mind as one of those suspended Seahawks. I think he's the Patriots problem now though. Wink!

I think Belichick gave a good clue in his press conference about how the balls got deflated. You have to listen carefully and pay attention to what he said. He stated that the air pressure in their footballs is artificially inflated due to their preparation process. What does that mean? I think that during the preparation process the balls are being warmed up above room temperature, maybe by vigorous rubbing or brushing, maybe in a warmer room etc. The preparation causes the air in the ball to warm up. What does air do as it is warmed or heated? It expands, raising the pressure. This is done just before the balls are submitted to the referee for pre-game inspection. The balls pass inspection. The air in the ball cools off to ambient temperature, and what happens? The pressure drops! Absolutely brilliant! No one has to physically deflate the ball, it does it on its own! That explains why the Colts balls didn't drop in pressure too.

Someone on the team discovered this, either on purpose or by experimentation. So they could have followed the rules to the letter and still had this happen. I don't know how specific the rules are on ball inflation and preparation, but another thought entered my mind. What if another gas was used for inflating, say helium? Would that have the same effect, a small but slow drop in pressure?

It is entirely possible that there is no foul on this at all. It could be a sharp mind with some basic science.
