I feel like the old Dave Kreig days. Ball on the 1. Hand the ball off to Marshawn. With a timeout you have three shots at it and one would have done it. The Seahawks blew the win.

I still love them all, but oh my god, who made that horrible play call? The horror. .. the horror. ..

Congratulations to the Pats.

Pete said he told the team it was his fault. I can't believe they didn't hand it to Lynch, even the Patriots expected that. They wouldn't have stopped him at that distance. Edited by spookyturtle

Great game and possible one of the greatest games. Brady deserved the MVP. I couldn't believe the play that was called at the end. Seattle blew it and Brady can now leave on top and the Hall of Fame awaits him. Bravo.

I read on ESPN that during the season they gave the ball to Lynch 5 times from the 1yd line and he only scored once. Maybe that's why they went with the pass? I thought for sure he'd get the ball 3 times if necessary. Nice pick by Butler. And too bad the brawl started after that.

Pete said it was his fault. Darrell Bevell said it was his fault. Russell Wilson said it was his fault.

Class acts all. But I blame Belichick, great game plan, as was my pregame concern. Tom Brady was Tom Brady. And while we kept Gronk under wraps, Edelman was a beast. Pats are a very good team. No shame, only pain.

Best Super Bowl in a while that's for sure. Seattle will bounce back.

Brady was going to the Hall of Fame with or without the win today. Respect.

Five attempts is a statistically insignificant sample size. I doubt it was that. Everyone in the building was thinking run and Carroll just tried to get too cute. As they say, if it worked it would have been a great call. Fraction of a second difference and that could have been a TD. Great play by Butler.

That is the reason Pete called that play. Sound reasoning to me as that last yard would have been tough to get for even Lynch. Whatever the reason it was among the most outstanding endings I ever watched. I laughed when it was over and they panned to Brady. His stunned elation was priceless. I never thought he would win another SB but yes he is HOF bound but this put him up there with my faves for best ever all time. (Montana, etc.)

Heartbreaking but great game.

It is easy to reduce the game in your mind to one play, a play like that stands out. But there was so much more to the game.

First the play itself. It is natural with hindsight to have the bias that it did not work out therefore it was a bad call. Had they handed Lynch three times there would be howls about why the pass was not an option. The Patriots used that same route three times and succeeded twice, they are not dogs today. Another pass route? Maybe there was one with lower risk, but with so many bodies stacked up in such a short distance, there is risk in all of them. According to ESPN , in 2014 on the 1 yard line 223 running plays resulted in a touchdown 58% of the time, while the 109 passing plays resulted in a touchdown 61% of the time. It is hard to not imagine that Lynch would have succeeded three times..the numbers from the 1 show differently.

The vaunted Seattle defense gave up 14 Points in the final quarter. Was Sherman healthy? I think he toughed it out at less than 100%. What if Jeremy Lang had not broken his arm ? Simon was not ready to be a target by Brady, most of the big plays for NE were in Simons direction.

We saw a great matchup, we knew hearts would break, its part of the game.
