But if the air at measuring was 70 F and the air in the ball dropped to 50 F, that is a delta of 20 Degrees and would make a 4 % change

Maybe if they pumped hot air @ 90 and it cooled to 50F...maybe if there was a change in barometric pressure that affected the gauge.

I believe the lab results. And if they did have hot air in the ball, the drop would be greater.

New topic..which coach should kids emulate..Belichick or Carrol?

Pete Carroll and Bill Belichick: Role Model and Cautionary Tale

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2343029-pete-carroll-and-bill-belichick-role-model-and-cautionary-tale

Pete Carroll is seven months older than Bill Belichick.

Most hardcore fans are aware that Carroll is older. Among casual fans, you could win a lot of bets with this information. The 63-year-old Carroll appears youthful and hearty; he could grab a box of Just for Men and dye his way down to his mid 40s if he tires of the "silver fox" look. Belichick, who turns 63 in April, looks like a bus driver forced to work past retirement age because his pension was gutted. Carroll could play an action movie hero, and it would not have to be an Expendable. Belichick would play the scowling wizard corroded by his exposure to dark sorcery.

It's wrong to equate appearance with virtue. But Carroll and Belichick, viewed side-by-side, look like Kennedy and Nixon in the 1960 presidential debates. Who would you vote for? If they each knocked on the door, and n

either was famous, who would you welcome into your house?

Neither, they both have questionable character.

So temperature change would account for a drop of about 0.5 PSI and according to the lab testing, wet balls can drop by up to 0.7 PSI. The balls only have a tolerance of 1 PSI.

Nothing will happen here unless they actually find evidence of tampering. The NFL will standardize the testing and storage protocol so this doesn't happen again. End of story.

The QB's are a better story. Every QB on back to back superbowl winning teams is in the HOF. Does a Seahawks win make Russel Wilson a hall of famer already? A Pat's win would leave Brady with 4 SB rings in 6 trips. GOAT?

One thing I don't want to see is the first snap from scrimmage flying over Brady's head.

Far too early to talk HOF for Wilson...but if he gets better over time one or two superbowls would not detract from the argument

NFL records and achievements
  • 2012 Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Year
  • Most passing touchdowns in a season by a rookie (26, tied with Peyton Manning)
  • 2× Pro Bowl (2012, 2013)
  • Most passing yards in a playoff game by a rookie (385 yards)
  • Most regular season wins by a quarterback in his first two seasons (24); most total wins in first two seasons (28, including playoffs)
  • Most regular season wins by a quarterback in his first three seasons (36)
  • Super Bowl XLVIII Champion (2014)
  • First quarterback to throw for 300+ yards and rush for 100+ yards in a single game. Done against the St. Louis Rams in Week 7 of the 2014 season

Good start for three years

I don't see anyone calling Brady a goat.

GOAT of course meaning greatest of all time. Four super bowl wins would put Brady at or near the top of the list.

'

Ohh

you mean G.O.A.T

the periods are essential

definitely a winner, probably top ten and HOF..better tan Elway, Montana, Unitas, Marino, Favre, Staubach? Some might debate if all time goes beyond this year.

The Seattle defense is being called one of the greatest ever, if he can pick them apart he will bolster his claim....if they ManningHandle him will he drop a notch in your estimatation?

I wouldn't put Brady above Montana, and maybe not above Unitas, but above all others mentioned, even if they lose.

Seattle defense is as good as the 86 Bears and the Ravens D of their first Super Bowl win, IMO. Seattle has a defense that Belichick had in his first SuperBowl wins here. The Patriots 3 Super Bowl wins were built on a strong defense. They haven't won since they became an offense oriented team.

86 or 85 Bears, I remember taking the Pats with 14 pts for sb XX and still loosing .. .

I think Brady is just about equal with Montana at this point at the top, maybe Montana is #1 and Brady is #1A. If Brady wins this one, I think the top of the mountain is his alone for some time to come.

I don't think the Seahawks D is as dominant as the 85/86 Bears or the Ravens of yesteryear. They are good but they have their holes and the Packers had them all but beat in the NFC Championship. Their weakness is the short passing game with yards after the catch which plays right into the Pats strength. I think the Seahawks downfall will be their offense, they won't be able to keep pace with Pats. As long as Brady gets 2 to 3 seconds to throw the ball, the Pats should win this game.

Seahawks cheat too.

I thought the article is funny. It's true but I wouldn't call it cheating. The refs aren't going to call penalties on every play. Seahawks take advantage of that.

Gilbride says Seahawks have “perfected the art” of pass interference
Posted by Mike Florio on January 11, 2014, 9:13 AM EST
sherman1.jpg?w=239Getty Images

So what’s the secret of the Seattle Seahawks?

They cheat.

Not in a Spygate way or with any other secret methods. As explained by Kevin Clark and Jonathan Clegg of the Wall Street Journal, the Seahawks engage in blatant pass interference on a regular basis, accepting that a penalty will be called from time to time but realizing that the officials won’t call it every time.

“If you think they’re going to be called and expect that to be the solution to the problem, you’re going to be sadly mistaken,” former Giants offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride told Clark and Clegg. “They’ve perfected the art.”

Gilbride added that the Seahawks engage in pass interference on nearly every passing play.

“They just seem to not care about the rules,” Giants receiver Louis Murphy said.

They surely care, but the Seahawks understand that the officials aren’t inclined to slow the pace of the game to a crawl by throwing flag after flag for interference or defensive holding.

“They look at it and say, ‘We may get called for one but not 10,'” FOX’s Mike Pereira, a former V.P. of officiating, told Clark and Clegg.

The Seahawks led the league with 13 pass interference penalties in 2013. They also had 10 defensive holding calls. If they’re indeed committing fouls on every passing play, that’s a small price to pay for 13 wins and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.

Absent an adjustment by the officials from last weekend’s wild-card round, which featured plenty of uncalled contact on receivers, the Saints should expect more of the same on Saturday.
