Has anyone here gotten a 221-G AFTER a successful interview?? My fiancé had his interview in Islamabad at the end of December. He was approved (thank God!), congratulated, and was told he'd receive his visa in 5-7 days. Now, 4 weeks later, CEAC still shows AP.

I called the NVC today and was told a 221-G was issued last week! My heart sank to the floor -- I thought we were out of the danger of AP since he was approved already. When I asked the reason, the person said it didn't say, and that we'd just have to wait. In these 4 weeks, I've not gotten any communication from the embassy so I am really lost and disappointed.

Here I was thinking the visa would be issued any day and now, we are in the black hole AP.

Has anyone experienced this? If so, any ideas of how long it might take to clear? I know 221-G issued at the interview has no time limit but I am so so confused since we were approved. :(

I'm trying really hard to stay optimistic but my heart feels like cement today. :(

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

AP is standard for Pakistan applicants. Even though it is approved it still goes through more background checks before they give the actual visa. I think this doesn't make any sense but it's part of the process unfortunately :/ I hope your AP gets sorted soon and the visa is issued. I just hear it depends on the case and can take a few weeks or a few months. It's hard to know. I'm right behind you though as my fiance will go for his interview in Islamabad as well. Hopefully in the next couple of months. AP is my biggest worry right now.

Unfortunately being a male in Pakistan is reason enough to be put on AP (regardless of what the consul said on the interview). It could take a few weeks to months. No one can tell but hopefully sooner. Good luck.

salam,

Keep checking ceac , mine showed AP even in France only for 5 days then issued and I remember I got my vosa by mail at home so inshaAllah your fiancé will have it. Be patient , if it takes longer, you should write to the embassy becauseyour case is no longer at the nvc

I guess you are right. It's like the finish line keeps moving a few inches away. But InshaAllah I have faith that Allah is with us, so have to keep reminding myself to be grateful and to appreciate the things that ARE going well, Alhumdulilah.

I guess it makes sense that they do the more serious background check this late in the process, since they don't want to waste the time and resources on a case that may not end up being approved? *Shrug* But I read that AP is for cases that will likely get the visa, sooner or later.

I wish your fiancé the very best for his interview and that the process goes smoothly, InshaAllah!

:) :) Thank you so much. I hope to share good news soon, InshaAllah.

And congratulations to you for surpassing so many milestones in your transition to your new life in the States! I wish you and your husband a long and happy life together InshaAllah! :)

You are right about reaching out to the Embassy. I've emailed them twice, but no answer. Alhumdulilah, the date on CEAC has changed a few times, but do you (or anyone else) know if they update the date when emails are received, or when the Embassy replies? I'm tying to gauge whether the updated dates are progress, or just them receiving my email?

Thank you!!
