Hi all,

I am currently in the process of removal of condition of 2-year alien card. I had a 1 year extension letter issued last year in June, 2014. It says "This verification extends the validity of your alien registration......for one year from the Filing Date". The date on the letter is 6/15/2014 but my actual Alien card expires at 8/15/2014.

My question is: When does the one year extension starts to count? one year starts from my actual alien card expiration? or One year from the date on the letter? I am confused by the "Filing Date."

I am currently planning a travel outside the U.S. Please reply if you know the answer. Thank you all !!! :)

Filing date means the date USCIS accepted your I-751 for processing and the NOA was issued, so 6/15/14.

If you have still heard nothing on your I-751 by mid-May it would be advisable to obtain an I-551 stamp in your passport.

Thank you Hypnos! It's actually the I-829 Petition by Entrepreneur to Remove Conditions instead of I-751. Does it make any difference? Where am I supposed to get the stamp from? Could it be possible to get the stamps earlier like in March? Thank you

Ah, sorry for my assuming. Most cases here are the I-751 route.

As I understand it, an I-829 is effectively the same thing as an I-751, just for use by entrepreneurs as you say.

If it works the same as an I-751 then you can make an Infopass appointment at your local office to obtain a passport stamp. I have read that they will retain your original green card if you do this (but you keep the NOA / extension letter). There is no real advantage to getting a stamp now, but you probably could if you wanted to. Make an Infopass appointment and take your valid foreign passport, original (expired) green card, and original extension letter / NOA and they should be able to give you a passport stamp on the spot. Again, this assumes an I-829 works the same way as an I-751, and that is out of my bailiwick.
