Just a little tid-bit for those of you going through Amman.....according to one of their GLORIOUS representatives, once your Visa has been issued and you have mailed them your passport and they have received it, it will be approximately 3-4 weeks for them to insert the Visa into your passport and get it back in the mail.....and we all know what 3-4 weeks in "Amman embassy Language" really means....

They will NOT allow you to personally bring it in...they will only accept it via mail (Aramex) ....I argued and argued with them over this one....especially since my fiance is in Iraq and we don't exactly TRUST the mail going in and out of there and we are scared to death his passport will get lost along the way.....so he is flying to Jordan and then mailing the passport once he is there....he has some family in Amman so he's using their address....such a pain in the a$$

Oh, now THAT is annoying. And stupid.

Yeah, they are pretty unyielding. My favorite is my husband was in Syria for college and one semester he didn't leave. So now he has to get a current police report from Syria regarding 1994-1998.

Now.

In order to graduate, you MUST COMMIT NO CRIMES or even be SUSPECT. So since he graduated, he is clear. MORE OVER-- they give you a copy of your police report from this time upon graduation. An offical copy.

Syria? not the safest place to go walking into government offices, especially as a non-Syrian. Syria? has closed its borders due to an Iraq argument.

My husband? Really awesome? but not capable of time travel (unfortunately), and therefore cannot change his record from 1994-1998, which is the record they need. But yet? They insist, closed borders and all, that he gets this paper. Which he cannot get. Because the borders are CLOSED. And it's frustrating since we HAVE the paper! It's just not one printed this year!!!

Oh good GAWD! I SWEAR, it's always SOMETHING....this whole process is such a piece of sh*t ......just for the he!l of it I went through and added up all of the expenses (simply filing fees, medical exams, etc... no travel, postage or new passport expenses) and it will be $1000 to get through the Green Card phase (I-129, EAD, AOS, etc...) To me that's just REDICULOUS....and people wonder why there is so much illegal immigration.....the poor Mexicans trying to get here would have to pick beans in Mexico for what?, like a DECADE just to AFFORD to file to immigrate to the U.S.!!! This stuff gets me fired up.......not to mention the arduous 2 year process.

Yes! I totally understand illegal immigration. I kjoked with my Dh telling him he looks Cuban and if he could only swim.. :) LOL! But for real! they make it very hard.. and I understand why it's hard? But this is getting really ridiculous.

Yeah, I don't even want to add up the costs of the phone calls...

Thanks for letting us know Mandolin. More and more my fiance and I are just talking about my moving to Jordan. I love it there and sure I could find work even if I did my job now from home (and agree to a pay cut) I could do it. This process is just gruesome. I don't know why they don't bring more ppl to the embassy. I know plenty of other M/E countries that don't take nearly this long!

Uggg I got a feeling I'll be moving this summer...

Thanks hon...it's ok. We actually have not been on AP that long, only 3 months. I don't really like to complain about it because of other people who have been on it longer than us, like Shon (who got her visa today! ) and Yasi who doesn't come here anymore, anyone here from her? I wonder how she is and if they got the visa yet....

I think they are pretty close, it used to be that doing a fiance visa was faster but I'm proof that its no longer that way. I would definitly do a spouse visa if I could do it all over again.
