K-1 and Joint Sponsors question about unemployment

Me and my Fiance were orginally going to file for a K-3 visa through DCF. With the new law that came into effect K-1 seems like a better option for us. Information about joint sponsors is really sketchy for k-1 visa's. So here is my question that I hope someone can answer.

I am currently unemployed and have been unemployed for 2 years due to personal reasons. I have a joint sponser that makes very well over the poverty line. If I am unemployed but have a joint sponser. Will me being unemployed affect the decision for apporval? I know it doesn't matter for the K-3 visa, but like I said K-1 seems a little more sketchy. Thanks so much!

Your joint sponsor has to understand that by agreeing to be the sponsor, they accept responsibility for your fiancee for a period of 10 years. This is the length of time it was explained to me that a sponsor is responsible for the immigrant applicant. This is of course assuming that he/she marries and stays in this country with the K-1 visa and later AOS. So, your sponsor needs to be aware of this huge potential commitment.

As to being unemployed, that is not likely to have a bearing as long as the other sponsor has the ability to pay. But, it is normal that they would ask how you plan to support your spouse and you. Often times the applicant is still in school or between jobs. This is one reason for the need of an additional sponsor.

Discuss with your sponsor first, then proceed, if everything is clear to all parties.

Yeah my joint sponsor is my brother. He very well knows he is obligated to support my fiance no matter what. Thanks for your help it's really appreciated.
