Question 15 in i-295F

Hello all,

First of all, I'm a new member about to embark on a K1 journey. This is also my first proper post, so be gentle with me! Also, I have already checked and searched some of the guides and example forms, but with regards to question 15 in the i-295F form (and 15a - h) I'm still a little confused.

Question 15 asks: "Has your fiance(e) ever been in the United States?"

I have (quite a number of times over the past few years), so obviously I would tick the "yes" box.

Question 15a then states: "If your fiance(e) is currently in the United States, complete the following:"

I am not, therefore I do not need to answer this. Or at least not 15a. However, upon reading page 2 of the .PDF instructions from the USIC website on how to complete form i-295F (see http://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/i-129finstr.pdf), it states under "How to fill out form i-295F":

4.The answers to item numbers 15.e, 15.f, 15.g, and 15.h in Part 2 of this form should be in reference to the passport or travel document used at the last entry into the United States.

Now perhaps I'm being an idiot, but my understanding of "last entry into the United States" is the last time I visited, which in my case would have been Nov/ Dec 2014. Reading question 15a, it does appear that this section (15a - 15h) does not need need to be completed unless the fiance(e) is currently in the USA. Yet why does the i-295F instructions make particular reference to 15e - 15h with regards to the "Last entry into the United States"?

Obviously my fiance and I want to get the forms completed right first time, so can anyone clarify that 15e - 15h ONLY need to be filled in IF the fiance(e) is currently in the USA?

Many thanks for your help.

Chas

Your interpretation is correct - you do not need to complete 15a-h if you are not currently in the US. The specific instructions are only applicable to those people who need to answer those questions in the first place, which is not you.

As you mentioned, everyone must answer question 15. And just for the sake of clarity, the form is the I-129F. I've never heard of an I-295F.

Thanks so much for the clarity, that helps me a lot. I shall leave those sections blank.

And you are completely correct, I had meant to put I-129F and not I-295F. I've messed it up on my very first post! No excuse from me, especially as I was looking at the instruction .PDF for I-129F AND had the I-129F form open as well and had no logical reasons for not seeing the correct form number. *Goes and sits in the dunces corner*!

I can't edit the post to correct I-295F to I-129F. Can a moderator do this for me please?

The instructions on how to fill out questions 15a through 15h are in regards to what travel document you used at your entry to the US...IF you are filling out that section. You are not required to fill out that section since you are not in the US currently. So the instructions on page 2 about 15a - 15h are irrelevant.
