Hello,

I hope there is someone that can help answer my question. I applied for and received a visitor visa to Pakistan last November and married while I was there. Now, I would like to apply for a multiple entry family visa so I can visit at least once and then also go over for interview when we get to that point.

On the visa application, it asks for religion. On my last application, I put Christian. Now I am Muslim. I don't know what information they track from previous applications and am wondering if they will question this. Should I send a copy of my certificate with the application? Or should I include a cover letter?

Thank you!

So I have a similar situation. As a tip, it would be cheaper to get a POC, your husband can obtain one for you, its good for 5 years, grants you unlimited visa free entry into Pakistan ( along with other benefits) and is $100. If you want more info on that process let me know and I will give you all the details. As for now obtaining a visa, you should be able to get a 5 year multi entry visa as long as you provide your marriage paperwork (nikah nama and marriage registration certificate). I would probably not bother with a cover letter but would also include a copy of your certificate.

Thank you! Yes, I would be very interested to know more about that. Should I look into that before applying for the visa?

So for the POC, you are eligible once you are married to a Pakistani national. There is an application found here www.nadra.gov.pk/images/docs2/POC3.pdf. You need to complete the application and also provide an attested copy of your Nikah Nama and Marriage Registration Certificate attested either in Pakistan at the foreign office (cost is 50Rs per document) or at your local US consulate. I had my documents attested in Pakistan. Then your Pakistani spouse also needs to complete this: www.nadra.gov.pk/docs/foreign-spouse-cases.pdf and get it attested. Also you need a copy of your Pakistani spouses CINC and your passport biographic page. You can see the checklist of required documents here: www.nadra.gov.pk/docs/poc_checklist.pdf. I would recommend as POCs are actually made at the NADRA head office in Islamabad if your Pakistani spouse lives near Islamabad it would be easiest for him to go in person to the NADRA head office and obtain the application and a list of the required documents. The regular fee is $100USD and it is valid for 5 years. It grants unlimited visa free entry to Pakistan, ability to open bank accounts, and ability to purchase property. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Thank you so much! That sounds like something I will have to do on my next visit so I will probably apply for the visa now. But it sounds like there's a few things he can work on in the meantime to make the process faster. He is about 3 hours from Islamabad but it might be a fun trip to go up there.

What exactly does it mean to have the documents attested? We may have done that when I was there but I can't honestly say I know what it means. And I only have copies here with me, not the originals. I somehow missed packing my copies of the originals when I was there as our last day was so busy. I will be getting them on my next visit.

Thanks again! I hope to see your status update soon. :)

Thank you. My certificate is not translated to English but I think I will attach it anyway. And you're right, a cover letter could be helpful or if anything, it can't hurt!

Thanks again and best of luck to you also!
