Hi,

I applied for mom's GC (IR5). She will give her interview at Mumbai consulate. I have a few questions regarding the interview process specifically for Mumbai.

1. Who decides the appointment time ? Does it come from NVC directly ? Or we have to schedule it ourselves ?

2. Regarding appointment for fingerprinting and photographs

a. Can this be done in Hyderabad even though interview process is at Mumbai

b. How soon or latest do we need to take them before the interview process ? Any suggestions on timing of appointment

3. Regarding medical tests, my mother is 75 years old and not sure if all those vaccinations are suitable. Will the panel doctor have a final say to skip some of them if they are not medically advisable.

4. Can we ask for Telugu interviewer for the interview at Mumbai ? What is the process ?

5. Are there any suggestions for good and convient hotels near US consulate in Mumbai.

6. How soon do we get the visa and other documents after the interview

7. Can we choose passport/visa/post-interview document collection at Hyderabad ? Are there any downsides ?

Thanks

hi apkman,

1. It is the NVC which on your case completion which will appoint an interview date so you dont have to worry about it.

2. Fingerprinting can be done at Hyderabad not a problem and you should have it done asap after you get your interview date. On paper you can do it one day prior to the interview but as you are trying different locations you can take some precaution.

3. Medical tests and required vaccinations are entirely and exclusively on what the doctor has to say so carry all the medical documents and records for him to make an informed decision.

4.Not very sure about the Telugu translator at mumbai.. i think you should call the consulate and check.

5. There are 2 hotels Trident and Sofitel which are at 2 min walking distance from the consulate.

6. It will take 3 business days to stamp the visa and ship so I would say a week atleast.

7. You can choose Hyderabad as a pick up location the only downside is it will take longer to reach you but then I don't see if you have any other choice as waiting in Mumbai doesn't make sense.

Good luck for your case and hope this helps.
