On this part of VJ http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/inde...p;cty=Vancouver it says that I need an I-134 accompanied by income tax returns (more than one?) and the W2. Does this mean that the bank statements and all that other junk asked for as "evidence" on the form does not, in fact, need to be procured and presented to anyone?

Listed there is:

When at the K1 interview, they request that your documents be in this order:

- passport

- photographs (print name on back)

- OF-156/DS-156 (should this be OF-167/DS-156?)

- DS-156K

- birth certificate (long form)

- marriage certificate (if any)

- termination of previous marriages

- police certificate(s)

- court records (if any)

- I-134 (they will also ask for income tax returns and the W2 as supporting documentation)

- medical (they do not ask for the chest x-ray so you don't need to bring it with you)

Listed elsewhere in the guides is:

What to send to your fiance(e) once the I-129F is approved (Receive NOA2):

Examples [of ongoing relationship]: Copies of 'phone bills, cel 'phone bills, emails, letters, stamps on the letters (to document the date they were sent), and other written documentary proof. Provide a reasonable amount; two to four of each type. You can also include a copy of engagement ring receipt (do not worry if you do not have a ring yet!)

--We are not getting a ring (allergies). Will this be a problem?

We would like to provide sufficient evidence, but not way too much. We do not want to overdo it.

The OP probably made a mistake in posting the message so many times. I know I have done that before, I thought my post hadn't went through because it kept messing up, but before I realised it went through 3 times. So I think it was a genuine mistake on the posters part.

he really did not make any mistakes, if you check the time stamp on when each message was posted, there are couple minute differences between each post. in addition, he posted in one of the three that he had to divide his message in three different posts because he had a long question and that he was advised to do so by someone else.

well, it is a BAD IDEA to divide a question into multiple posts because the way the message board works, threads with newer replies stay up on the list and ones with fewer posts go down on the list, so if unless the three posts have the same number of posts at the same time, they will be seperated later on and no one will be able to follow your entire question.

also, you could have made your post shorter by not repeating the first part of it.

If I don't repeat the first part, then when the questions become separated people reading the ones without the intro will not understand the question---or I will be advised to see the very same list that I quoted in the first question (that they didn't see because it was answered and had moved farther down the list of posts).

Anyway, I'll try again later and post 10 minutes apart and try to remember to name the posts different things so that folks are not ANGRY.

Simple board etiquette. If you use the same title, you can expect to be drawn up short for duplicate posts. We're not going to try to compare them to see what's different, especially when they are so wordy.

Keep your questions to the point. Provide details as necessary. Many of us KNOW what the guides say since we've taken the time to read them and in some cases, have contributed to writing them.

If we need more details, we'll ask.

A great marriage is not when the "perfect couple" comes together.

It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.

Ok enough bashing. In answer to your question, Weezer, you do not need evidence of buying an engagement ring. Nor will it cause any problems if you have no intention of buying one. If this crops up, you can merely explain your reasoning. Just make sure you have enough evidence of your relationship - if you're comfortable that what you have will convince the officer, then it might be enough. Double it to make sure :)

I saw the intitial post Wheezer made and someone got on their case about it being long and asking too many questions in one post. There was a lot of text, but it is better to leave it all in one post, isn't it? It is easier to track and follow and answer that way. All these little posts are confusing, but that's not wheezer's fault because they were trying to satisfy the first person who complained about their post. I don't think anyone who is not a mod here should be directing people on how to post, IMHO. If that person was a mod, then I defer to their judgement, but if not, I really don't appreciate them stepping in when it is a job for the mods who know how they want stuff posted.

Just so you know Mairzy - there's only one Mod at VJ and he's kinda too busy to watch over each forum.

Ok, back to the question. You should bring as much financial evidence as you can. I mean, if they ask for your past 3 years of taxes - bring them (you don't need 10). Along with that you should bring W2s (3 years), employment letter, bank statement, pay stubs, etc.

I e-mailed the consulate and asked if it's necessary for me to get a letter from my bank. They said no because my salary is sufficient that I do not need to show my assets. That may be your case.

I'm personally bringing my W2s and tax returns for the past 3 yeras, my contract, letter from school board and school (I'm a teacher), the proof of when I opened my bank account, and a few paystubs.

Hope this helps.
