Figured I've been both lurking and posting around here, I might as well yap about myself and the boy!

We met over six years ago in his village in Mexico. I had arrived to do research on Mayans and Cancun, and and didn't know anyone and had np place to stay. His sister found me sitting in the park, brought me to their family's store to meet her dad, then brought me to the house for lunch and to meet her mom. I sat there all confused as people kept coming in and out, asking me questions, then this young looking, dark skinned kid came in shirtless and shoeless and was screaming about something (later found out he always yells when talking to his family). The first thought that ran through my head was "Don't even think about falling in love with this guy, he's way too young for you." Turns out he barely even noticed me that day. Wonder why, as not every day does one come home to see some random white girl sitting in your kicthen. There were 6 people sleeping in their two room house, so no room for me. Mom brought me next door to a lady who had an extra room, they made plans for me to stay there as long as I helped buy basics for the household, told me to go into the city nearby to get my things and come back.

I ended up living in the house, but eating at my now boyfriend's house with his family and bathing in their bucket for six months. He took it miraculously slow, managing to show up wherever I was, taking me swimming, talking for hours. Running to the city nearby when we could to rent hotel rooms in secret. Wink, wink.

Lived together in Cancun for five years, now I'm back in the States filing the petition. It's not perfect by any means, and I have the feeling he'll freak in the States, but he's become my other half.

I always thought that love at first sight was cheesy, and i don't think that it was, but that initial thought that ran through my head was some sort of premonition.

Yep, looks like we'll be following each other's progress!

At least he's spent time talking to various Americans, but it'll be a lot different when he's on "their" turf here. He waits on them when they're relaxed, expansive, and vacationing, not when they're in their "get outta my way" mode that we see here everyday. It'll be a fascinating journey, for sure!

Yep, we'll stay in RI for a while at least. I really want to relocate, possibly to Tucson, but he wants to immerse himself in English speaking culture at first.

Looks like you live in CT?
