No it was only a traffic violation. I am not even sure if you will have to report it. I think any traffic fine less then $500 you do not unless you were arrested .Relax you will be fine

You should still report is on your N400, but be prepared to show proof that you paid it, even though the fine was less than $500. While you don't have to provide documentation for traffic citations of less than $500, the only way to prove that it was less than $500 is to show the documentation. Nothing to worry about though, it won't cause a denial.

If you knowingly omit this infraction on the N400, you do take a calculated rish that your application may run into problems - considering you were compelled by the courts to defend yourself. Not to mention, a guilty please to a judge. Driving without a license, in some states, is a Class-B misdemeanor. Driving without a license certainly holds more gravitas than a low-level speeding ticket, parking ticket, etc.

I'm overly cautious, so, if I were in the same exact position as you were, I would seek some counsel from a lawyer just to ensure my own peace.

Actually it does not. Driving without a licensee is consider a traffic offense. If it was Driving with a suspended or a revoke licensee then yes. that is where your class b misdemeanor is.But since the op was let go and paid a fine of only of a $180.00 dollars then most likely it was just for forgetting his licensee ( driving with out one)

Do not scare someone if you have no clue what you are talking about

If you think that was a scare tactic, I can only imagine what your "chicken little mind" actually goes through. I know the art of subtlety is not your forte, from all your previous unlettered postings, but, words like: "may", or, "some states (note, I didn't say all states), or, "If I were you [since I'm overly cautious]"...

Little things like that usually go past people who aren't very smart.

The application clearly states that you have to report any time you were cited by an officer. There's nothing in the instructions, the application, the USCIS policy manual, or the naturalization guide that says that you do not need to report traffic offenses. The only thing that it says is that you are not required to provide proof that you have paid all fines for traffic offenses below $500 that are not DWI related.

You absolutely have to list this on your N400 - there's no question of that. Furthermore, even though the instructions say that you do not need to provide proof, in about half the cases of traffic incidents reported here on Visa Journey, the interviewer has insisted on seeing proof of final payment or court disposition, regardless of the amount of the fine.

Having said that, there's no reason that this should delay your application if you can provide the necessary documents.
