Hello everyone!

I just have a question related to the expedite request process. How many days after NOA 1 you need to wait for you can request expedite? My fiancée is from Donetsk, Ukraine and the situation is bad and getting worse. They have war and now even separatist are attacking checkpoints where normal people go through. Recently 12 people died for such attack. Ukrainian government stopped pension payments and all government service in the city, and almost all roads are closed. I'm afraid if I wait too long I will not be able to get her out of there. She against separatist and I fear persecution for such views. I hope I can get an expedite just need to know when it will be appropriate to call.

Thank you guys!

Jose,

Expedites still take time, getting her out of there now seems best.

You can try as soon as possible. But to proof how danger would be for her is very difficult. Like others said, get her out from the country is one of options so far since expedite would take some time to process. You can also involving your congressman regarding the expedite.

Yes, I definitely need to start this, I will call tomorrow

thanks!

When you request because of unrest it is best to show exactly how close she is to the issue. If it is miles away it may be denied, if they are fighting at her door then it is likely approved.

She lives about 8 miles away from airport about 20 min., which is where the main fighting is occurring now. But shells are raining in all over the city even in city center yesterday. And 3 weeks ago a shell dropped 2 streets aways from her house. I really hope I can prove this, is really hard but I'll do all what I can do.

Thank you!

I want to do this but is even hard now to get a bus for a different city, she hasn't been outside of her home for the last week because it's just too dangerous. We need t wait until much safer and try to get her out of there.

Thanks!

Thank you for your post! I'll also call my congressman, I just don't understand how people get approved for less serious situations, and somehow the humanitarian catastrophe in Donetsk doesn't get serious consideration. According to UN an estimated 4,771 casualties, about 800,000 people fled to Russia and 260,000 to other cities. She not have family in other cities so I don't know what to do :(

You guys will be in my prayers. My fiance is further away and out of harm's immediate way for now, but the situation in Ukraine gets worse every day. I hope you get your visa asap.

Thank you! I appreciate it, I also hope you get your visa asap. Generally is not a good situation in all the country. But at least if you're in Kiev or any of the western cities you don't have to worry about constant shelling. I tomorrow call Uscis (today holiday) and will ask for my expedite.

Thank you for your prayers,

Jose

So after calling and requesting and expedite request, waited for 4 days and today finally received the happy news :) our case is now under expedite review and we should receive NOA 2 in 10 business days or less. Hopefully we don't get any RFE.

Thanks to everyone here who helped, just one step closer now)

Just checked my case status and discovered we got our NOA2 on Thursday. Either CSC is getting insanely fast, or they are doing automatic expedites for Ukraine as well.

It's great news, I'm still waiting on NOA2 it should be coming the week. They do auto expedite for people in eastern Ukraine specially. It's difficult situation there.

Kids in school - no. Situation in Ukraine - yes, if your fiancée is living in the affected region.
