K1 visa stamped; can I travel abroad before entering the US?

H1 there! :)

I made some research but did not find anything about it...

So here is the deal: my K1 visa has been approved and it is stamped in my passport. I am currently leaving here in Canada as a temporary worker and therefore I had my interview here in Montreal but I am a French citizen. So before I enter to the US I would like to go back to France to visit my family and stay there for 2 weeks; then come back to Canada, take my stuff and enter the US with my K1 visa. Is that possible? Or is there any restriction with the K1 visa once stamped that would not allow you to travel abroad anymore...?

I really would like to go back to France since once in the US I know I can not leave anymore until my status is adjusted; which I know can take several months...

Please if anyone has an answer to my question I would be very thankful! :)

The K-1 visa is a one-time entry visa for the USA. No other country cares about what visas you have to the US. All they care about is that you have the proper visa to enter their country. You can travel where every you like in the world. As long as you enter the US before the expiration date on the K-1 visa. Once you enter the US, you cannot leave and re-enter without a valid advance parole (AP) card or GC (green card). Those are the limitations on the K-1 visa. So after you get married you should file for adjustment of status (AOS) ASAP along with the I-131 and I-765 (AP and EAD). Once you have the AP/EAD combo card you can work and re-enter the US, but you already know this.

Congratulations on the visa approval,

Dave
