Hello everybody! I was wondering if some of you could help me understand how the whole k-1 visa process work.

On September 4,2014 they received our form I-129F and mailed us back with a case number. Since then nothing has been notified. After the maintenance on the site everything is more confusing since they removed the "Dots" which used to indicate the advancement of the case. I tried also calling through Skype but they don't provide me with any further information besides what I wrote above. What I'm asking is , is it normal to have waited since September 4th without receiving any progression ? I'd appreciate any help because I'm really worried !!!! Thank you!!

I´d say it is mostly normal.

also depends on where you are from, where your fiance is from and where the petition is getting processed.

For example a Philippine application with a petitioner living on the westcoast (petition gets routed to California Service Center) will be prcessed faster than an Austrian application with a petitioner living on the eastcoast (petition gets routed to Texas Service Center).

Look at the guides and the reported processing times! they are very helpful!

Also there is a thread somewhere for September filers that you can look at to see where they are :-)

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/517086-k1-september-2014-filers-tsc/that one is for Texas. It should say on your NOA 1 (the letter you got) where they are processing your application

From what I have seen they seem to be working on June/July filers right now, so you have a little bit of a wait ahead of you. As do I, we filed in October...

Good luck!

Please update your timeline, that way it is much easier for us to help you :) If you are being processed at the Texas Center then yes, it is completely normal for you not have heard anything yet. They get the most cases and progress is slow.

Calling USCIS does absolutely nothing to help prioritize the processing of your petition. The delay you're experiencing is, quite sadly, normal for USCIS. We filed August 4th and we're still waiting.

I've called USCIS a number of times, including a few sessions with Tier 2 reps. Didn't do a thing to help at all. Didn't provide any additional information about our status. It's pretty much a waste of time. USCIS tells you stuff nothing of consequence or value.

Given that they are still Processing June filers at this stage I would estimate you get your NOA-2 in March/April.

If you fill in your timeline it will give you an estimate of the wait based on the user data here - it is not a guarantee of course but might help.

I got my NOA-1 in late December. I fully expect a wait until July. :-(

Hi,

If you're not from the Philippines (Their cases are expedited) or don't have any other reason to be expedited (For instance financial hardship under the USCIS circumstances) your case will be adjudicated like all the other ones processed at the Service Center your petition was sent to. You can check the processing times at the USCIS website and if I am not mistaken the CSC can take up to 5 months to process a petition, however some cases are approved really fast and some take a while, keep in mind it's an average time. And I am sorry but I didn't get the part you said your case is in the CSC because your fiancé was born there. Actually the Service Centers jurisdiction is based on the petitioners residing area, however there is a chance of having it processed there IF the Service Center in his service area transfers your case. Anyways you got your NOA1 and it states CSC so your case is being processed there! :)

Thank you for responding, my case is CSC we are awaiting the NOA 2, as the NVC sent us an email saying that one of them would return in 30 days and it was not for us to send anythig questioning before the 30 days, but the period has expired and we get nothing, then we are lost in the real timeout NOA 2...

It is hard to advise you, we do not know what state you are from, or where your fiance is.

If you are in the eastern US, then April or May, is about when you could hear some news.

If you are in the west, then you could get some news in 1/2 the time.

If we knew where your fiance was from, it would help also. People here can really help you, they just need more information.

These people are "experts" and most all "really know what they are talking about. (not me, I m just learning)

It took us forever to hear back from them. This is normal, and there is no way to "speed things up" unfortunately, it is what it is and it moves the way it moves. Calling isn't going to get you anywhere, in most cases they tell you to wait x amount of time and call back later unless you absolutely know it's past the normal deadline, which for you it is not. We heard absolutely nothing for months. However, the last few bits (medical, readiness form, interview, etc.) go much faster.

Hi,

Sorry, I am really not getting at all, lol. Did you receive an e-mail from the NVC telling you would hear from them in 30 days? What what what?

Ohh, I saw your timeline and you already got your NOA2 tho. Before you mentioned your NOA1 and if there was a way to speed it up so I was thinking you didn't get your NOA2 yet..So here we go, your answer is NO: There is nothing you can do at this time to speed it up. This letter is a standard letter just so you know. According to your timeline your case was received by the NVC 12/20 (Are you sure? In average it takes up to 7 days to receive but maybe you're lucky!) and I assume that as of know your case was processed and already forwarded to Rio de Janeiro Embassy. I assume that if you know your case was received by NVC you have your RDJ number and know exactly when it was shipped off to the Embassy, right? If you know so you can e-mail the Embassy to ask if they received your case and assigned you an interview date. Don't forget to include the RDJ, DOB and names of y'all.

Anyways the Embassy will contact you via e-mail with your interview date and additionally send you the interview letter. My case left NVC on the 19th, Embassy e-mailed me on the 31st and I received the letter last week.

I am sorry to let you know that if you haven't received the date yet you won't FOR SURE be interviewed in february and MAYBE not in even in March by I would say early April. Unfortunately here they just have K1 appointments tuesdays and we have so many holidays coming on that in average the interviews are taking a little longer than two months since their contact!! :/ Feel free to pm me in portuguese if you feel more comfortable! :)
