It is always a good idea to carry a pen so you can complete the US CUSTOMS DECLARATION form they will give you on the airplane. This is where you declare anything you are bringing into the US like food or items that are not yours but are presents for other people or tiems you purchased in the PI to bring to the US. You will hand the declaration form to the CBP agent along with your passport and the DO NOT OPEN envelope. The CBP agent will return your passport and the declaration form and you will go pick up your luggage and proceed thru Customs where you will give them the Delcaration form after they process your visa.

Good luck,

Dave

I read some post here that also need to hand carry the X-ray cd and the vacc sheet? Is it true?

So the immigration will not give back the envelope?

No. Not true. You can put your DS-3025 in your luggage along with the CD (no one wants that) if you want. You will not get anything back from the DO NOT OPEN envelope.

Hank, you did say make a small cut to remove passport and page from visa packet but leave the do not open envelope in package to keep it from tearing. Would it be advisable to do that when you go to CFO for sticker rather then do this before hand?

Being IR/CR-1 you will need to make a copy of the immigrant data sheet that is attached to the DO NOT OPEN envelope so you will need to remove it from the plastic bag long enough to make a copy. But yes I suggest to keep the envelope inside the plastic bag to protect it as much as possible until POE.

Is the immigrant data sheet not attached inside the do not open envelope? Attached outside?

The immigrant data sheet is on the outside of the DO NOT OPEN envelope. If it were inside you could not access it...
