Hi all,

I was just wondering if there are any fellow Scots out there. I'm sure there are hundreds, but I haven't been in touch with any of you. In my area, Upstate NY, I haven't found any Scottish people. I kind of feel like an alien here, excuse the pun, lol. It would be nice to hear from some Scottish people to make me feel that I'm not alone here ;). Thanks.

That's interesting, thanks for your reply.

Hi Pauline, I'm from Stirlingshire, moving to Philly next month.

Met another Scot on here last night from Central Scotland, she is heading to New York State, I'm sure she'll show up to say hello.

Hi I am from Scotland... Arbroath to be exact... where are you from?

Kez

Hi,

I'm from Stewarton, in Ayrshire, a small town. Don't know if you've heard of that town. About 6 miles from Kilmarnock, 20 miles from Glasgow.

That would be good if your friend said hello. Stirlingshire isn't too far from where I'm from, Stewarton, small town in Ayrshire, west Scotland. My sister got married in Stirling castle.
Gareth grew up in Dundee and had lived in Glasgow for 8 years before moving here.

We used to live in New Jersey, but have been in New Mexico for about a year.

Hi,

Does Gareth like Mexico or does he prefer Scotland?

Hi,

We've never been to Mexico. ;)

Me: "Gareth, do you like New Mexico or do you prefer Scotland?"

Gareth: "Yes."

(As in, he both likes New Mexico and prefers Scotland.) He says he likes New Mexico better than New Jersey and better than most other US places he's been to, but he wishes it were easier to make friends in New Mexico. I agree. People in New Mexico are very outgoing and friendly and polite, but have no real desire to actually be your friend. As opposed to New Jersey, where people can be abrupt, but if you meet someone you click with, it's pretty easy to start hanging out and become friends.
