We are currently in the process of getting an interview setup for her fiance visa. I sent my I-134 already along with my tax and pay stubs and company letter of employment. I have a few questions. I just discovered this website.. :(

1) I keep getting mixed answers. I didn't send a "new" copy of letter intent of engagement as I thought it was already a given through the process I went through here. Does she really need me to send a copy of a new letter of engagement? Can it be photocopied and sent online(Its very expensive to send a piece of paper to the philippines).

2) Once approved, how long does it take for her to get her VISA copy? Can she get it immediately? She lives in Cabanatuan City.

3) For proof of relationships, she has alot of pictures of us together. I cant think of anymore proof other than maybe skype conversation. Can she have them call me if they want more proof? Can someone help me out with more proofs? I'm really scared of it being rejected as we want to finally get this finished.

Question #1 : You need to send her a New signed in Ink Letter of Intent and dated. (You have time.)

Question #2 : It takes about a week after Approval and is mailed to her.

I think your OK.

1) In reality the Letter of Intent has not been asked for in years. You should be OK without it.

2) The visa will be printed inside her passport, this will not happen until final approval (ISSUED shown as status on the CEAC website), this can take a week or more after the interview. Delivery of her passport w/visa and the DO NOT OPEN envelope can take up to 10 days after issuance.

3) Evidence of an ongoing relationship, details of what the embassy looks for are listed in the embassy instructions letter. Random sampling of chat logs and emails are always good and yes they like to see pictures of the two of you together. NO the CO will not call you....

Oh forgot this question.. but on my I-797(NOA1).. it says Notice Type: Approval Notice Valid from 11/10/2014 to 03/09/2015.

Does that mean we are really short on time? What does the 3/9/15 signify?

The reason I asked regarding proof of the ongoing relationship thing. We usually just keep in contact through phone as I am signed up for unlimited calls to philippines through GLOBE DUO US. So we are basically on the phone ALL DAY and EVERYDAY haha...

Nope. The embassy will automatically extend the validity of the petition up to a year. Relax there is lots of time.

You will want to have copies of your phone log showing all the calls.

There are a lot of things you can use to show proof of relationship....flight itineraries from when you visited; passport stamps, receipts from hotels, Western Union, USPS for packages sent, gifts, etc.; letters from friends/family members, a screen shot of the number of Facebook messages you have to download, a small sampling of photos and/or chats, cards/letters, proof gifts that have been received from your family to your fiance (and vice versa), proof that they have met your family even if it is just via skype or facebook (and vice versa)...I think a greater variety of proof is more important than a large quantity of one kind.

For proof of relationship we had many things ready to present to the CO. The only things the CO asked for though was our Facebook chat log and pictures, both of which were already submitted to USCIS with our I-129 so we showed them our copies of what they already had behind the window. We were asked and I heard others being asked by the CO ... How many times fiancée visited them in the PI? Proof of those visits are good to have, such as pictures etc. Edited by luckytwo15

"Front loading" the I-129F petition with relationship evidence does nothing. Come interview time you still need to present evidence to the embassy.

Hank, the evidence my finance and I have today is essentially the same evidence we originally included in our Petition. Am I correct that you suggest my fiancé have that same evidence on-hand to show the CO? Or are you suggesting we generate more and/or new evidence not previously sent in the original Petition.

Previously, I was actually not worried about the interview stage at all, bc my fiancé and I have a real relationship and "proving" just seems silly. But then I found a few posts of denied couples (India and Morocco)--even though one of them brought 300 pages of evidence to the interview.

I would not compare how things go in India or Morocco to the Philippines.

The Philippines is listed as a high fraud country, and with that you have your own set of issues to over come.

What the embassy wants to see is evidence of a genuine relationship, for most this is extremely easy to show. A sampling of chat logs over the months/years, emails or letters and of course pictures of the two of you together. I don't know what you sent with your I-129F petition as USCIS requires evidence of having met in person within the past two years.

For us we had a sampling of chat logs off of Skype, pictures together... and me. ;) I was there for the interview. For you, there should be a sampling of chat logs from the beginning to current, page here, page there, nothing crazy. If you talk on the phone a lot show the phone log.

Most interviews are 3-5 minutes long, they ask the applicant questions about the petitioner; where does he work where does he live, what are your wedding plans, when was the last time you saw him... simple stuff that anyone in a real relationship can answer with ease. The CO may ask to see copies of the chat logs, sometimes they don't, most times they do ask to see pictures of the two of you together. As we know - pictures speak a thousand words.

Truly not a reason to stress..... Philippines is not India or Morocco.... ;)

Last week my fiancée was asked the following wedding plan questions at USEM interview. When is the wedding? What state will you marry in? Will the marriage be civil or church?

I love the "when" question. I've been on this excellent website quite a lot the past week, as well as Hank's site. I've since seen huge time variations, not in getting the K1 visa overall, but even through each part of the process. We're talking massive time variations here.

One example: One Petitioner's file took over 45 days just to get from USCIS to NVC. Another's took about a week. That's just one example.

To wit, the very idea of a CO asking my fiancé, "When is the wedding?" is utterly absurd. How can we plan a wedding when we haven't the slightest idea when she's going to get her visa? Just insanity, but I know she'll get that question. I can feel it.

Now Im supposed to get a notarized Affidavit of Parental Advice(as she is 22yrs old). Her dad has passed away. Anyone know a sample of letter to use? Thanks in advance

Watchyou talkin' bout Lewis?

I've never even heard of that form. Moreover, my fiancé was raised by her grandparents and lives with her cousin (for the past 5 years). Her grandparents live in the province, very far from Manila. How could she get such a letter?
