Warning for the newbies

In the past, we've had some nastiness involving people stealing pictures from ME/NA posters and using them on thier blogs for nefarious purposes. It's up to each individual poster to make their own decision, but be forwarned that anyone can take a picture from here and use it however they damn well please.

No, but AFAIK it is the only forum that has actually has a history of pictures being used for the wrong reasons.

Thank you for posting this because I wanted to say something about it recently too.

Posting a pic might seem relatively benign. I found out the hard way it isn't.

As Maggie noted yesterday, some of us (myself included) never post our names or those of our SO's on the public boards for security reasons. Such information has been used in the past by people with twisted political agendas. I wince each time I see unedited personal photos posted here, and I wonder where they could end up.

I am sure this is partly for me I don't post anything that is not already up on my website or other websites or what I have published in a few magazines...so these are all public photos. I DONT EVER say his last name and I rarely say his first name. I actually have better pix, but I choose to not post them for various reasons. It is important for people to realize it only take a right click and a save to steal photos from the internet and do what they want with them.

I really don't think it was intended for you. It's just good advice to give to the newbies on VJ especially going through the middle east/ north africa. Someone took pictures and timelines and used it to exploit couples on her blog for her own politcal agenda. Her main targets were couples from palestine and jordan because of the palestinian/israel conflict.
