Last year, a LOT of people, including me, and maybe all people, got a letter stating that all actions by NVC are increasing from the normal 30 business days to 60 days. When you consider the shear # of applicants, this is not surprising.

After 16 months in the CR1 process, my wife got her green card last month. One of the things her interviewer kind of joked about that when she eventually becomes a citizen, she should ask her congressman and lawmakers to vote and direct more money toward the immigration department, to allow for faster, more efficient, and more robust immigration processing. Even though we got through the big hump of the immigration process, we plan to be active still on this forum, and she does plan to follow the immigration reform so that others in the future may be luckier than us currently in this slower period for NVC.

They tell EVERYONE that 42 day thing. If you're a K-1 applicant, it will very unlikely be that long. It usually is 1-2 days.

I hope so, I'm thinking positive too, it's been 9 days since we were approved and no updates yet!

Why would they be faster for K1 Petitions?

My best guess would be simply one of the organization of manpower; simply relatively more people assigned to clear K1 visas as opposed to people assigned to clear the others. I cannot think of another reason, although there certainly could be one.

I just called a while ago they received our file yesterday jan15 and the csr told me to call again after 42 days for the case number question for real 42 days????

So much for the "expedition of Philippine visas."*

*Although in fairness, another poster did say the rumored expedition only applied to the USCIS stage.

Twinkie, pls keep us updated. 41 days at NVC cannot be fun...I had hoped it would be much faster there.

I have no idea how long it takes for other petitions. I just know it takes a couple days for K1 petitions to get case numbers assigned.

And yes, it is USCIS that expedites the application. The State Dept does not.

Assuming you are not put into Administrative Processing (AP), which seems to be infrequent and rare, NVC then sends it onto the embassy. From that point on, there is no standard process.

Very useful stuff, bow. So for my fiancé and I, even if it takes the "41 days," and we're not put in the Penalty Box known as AP, that's not so bad. We could actually deal with that.

Conversely, as K1 filers, if they jump on it quickly, we could be in rather good shape (I'll try not to get my hopes up, though ;)).

Thanks, again

I130 approval was a record 4 weeks for me

I130 to receipt at NVC was 1.5 weeks

NVC receipt to case number assignment was then 5 weeks (not quite the 6 weeks they announced)

Just got my letter about payments, will you keep you posted on application!

This thread is about K1 visas not IR1. There are plenty of IR1/CR1 NVC threads to join. Try this one: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/529507-nvc-filers-january-2015/
