Hi,

Im back again, I would like to ask you, has anyone got an email like that from the CSC??? We tried to find out what they are doing with our petition for so long. They didnt reply to our first email we sent them last week, so we sent them another one at the beginning of this week and got this answer:

This petition is undergoing security checks as required, there is no

time limit on this processing. Please allow 60 days before your next

inquiry.

Thanks,

So does it mean that we are going to wait FOREVER???????? Why are they able to complete other cases in less than 90 days and not ours after almost 140? Cant beleive it. They have already told us twice to wait 30 days, then another 30 days and now extra 60 days????

Sorry... but you have the unfortunate coincidence of having a name that is similar to a bad person. They now have to run checks to make sure that you and that individual are not one in the same person. Sometimes it takes a short period of time to clear your name, and sometimes it takes a long period of time. All you can do is wait until they are finished. Do what you are doing and keep checking. You may now want to get your congressional representative involved. They may be able to get a little more info than you can...

Im sorry :(

Unfortunately there is little you can do right now but to wait when there is security checks. I hope you hear something positive soon. I have seen many get similar emails, yet get an approval within weeks.

Wow, that isn't very encouraging. I would think that at some point you will want to get your elected representative involved.

I got a letter after they took a referral-it was very similar. It said the the "required background checks were still being completed. If you don't hear from us within 6 months call back.

I think it is a standard response, but I can't be sure.

I rec'd my NOA2 30 days after I got the letter. I guess every case is different. I am sure you will hear something soon.

You may want to contact your local congressman-it certainly can't hurt at this point.

Standard response and you will have to wait out the name check. Good luck.

Everything I respond to is from personal knowledge, research or experience and I am in no means a lawyer or do I claim to be one. Everyone should read, research and be responsible for your own journey.

Definitely sounds like you got hit with the name check. Unfortunately, there's not a whole lot that you can do about it. Your congressperson may respond that their hands are tied because the Department of Homeland Security doesn't release that sort of information. :(

JanaStepho,

Forever? Hopefully not. How long really? As others have posted, there's no telling.

The referenced "security checks" may mean IBIS, which is known to be checked during petition processing. Attorney Mathew Udall used to post, if I understood him correctly, that an IBIS 'hit' that needs to be investigated puts a halt to the normal processing time target for the USCIS, so that the case will not become overdue for a decision after the normal 30 days.
