Greetings!!!

Picked up my visa yesterday from the collection center, very excited but have some concerns I wanna share. My visa status says CR1, if I make plans to leave after out anniversary and I get to the US will they give me a 2yrs or 10yrs green card? Anniversary date is 14th Feb and my flight is 16th.

If you've been married for at least two years on the day you PoE then you will receive an unconditional ten year green card. You should travel with a certified copy of your marriage certificate, and remind CBP of this fact when they process you at Secondary.

Obviously, do not PoE before the 14th.

Hi, is there any government link or website that supports this plz? i know its true cos am a beneficiary but i have tried digging to get a site that support this but havent been able to find one.

If your anniversary is 14th of february and your flight is 16th of february. When you get to the port of entry you will get an IR1 10 yrs green card, the immigration officer at the port of entry will ask you when you got married and when you tell him then he will look at the date of your anniversary and the date of your entry into the U S he will see you are over two years he will stamp it somewhere inside your passport IR1. That was what happened to me.

I came into the U S five months after my two yrs anniversary but in my visa was CR1, when i got to the port of entry they stamped IR1 inside my passport, that was how i got 10 yrs green card.

Be sure to proactively state that you have been married for OVER two years. They may not ask you about it so please don't assume it and make the information known so you can collect the 10 year unconditional visa.

Remember that it is the law and they are not doing you a favor so feel free to shove the marriage certificate into their face and mention this point clearly.

So did u get the conditional or Unconditional green card?

Even if you receive the wrong card you can get the right one issued.

I received the IR1 stamp and the permanent green card. I entered a month after my second anniversary.
